3 New Year's Looks for Less Than $25

As any shopper on a budget knows, finding the right outfit to ring in the New Year is nearly impossible. Sure, there are plenty of sparkly options--but for less than $25? Now, that’s tough. However, I’m always up for a good challenge. So, I traveled far and wide (well, to the Haight and Union Square) and found some awesome pieces perfect for a huge club bash or an intimate house party.

Buffalo Exchange

Buffalo took me longer than the other stores to find some options. Their prices tend to be a little higher and their clothing racks more crowded than other secondhand stores. However, after some thorough digging, I found an awesome semi-sheer black and shimmery long-sleeved mini-dress, perfect for a nightclub, for just $14. (It’s probably technically a shirt, but when you’re on a budget you get creative!) Since there was some money left over, I browsed their accessories at the checkout and settled on a bangles set for $5.50 to complete the look. -
Forever 21
7 Powell St, San Francisco, CA
I usually say quality over quantity. But, when you are looking for seasonal or one-time-wear pieces, this trendy chain is the perfect place to look. I was surprised at the number of party dresses that were within our budget. I finally picked out this sequined navy-blue number for $24.80. Dress it up with some heels and you’re set for a cocktail party, or dress it down with some flats for a casual girls' night out. -
Crossroads Trading Company
1519 Haight St, San Francisco, CA
This designer thrift store is a little more organized (color coordinated and separated by size) than Buffalo Exchange. The buyers here seem to be more selective, which cut my search time in half. I decided to mix it up after purchasing two dresses at the other stores and chose this classy Club Monaco knee-length silver pleated skirt for $10.50. Paired with a simple, yet stylish, Banana Republic top with silk trim for $9.50, this look is great for a more formal party.
