Rene Di Rosa's collection is absolutely incredible! It represents one mans life journey with an intimate connection with grass roots artists of the Bay Area. Spanning 50 years, his collection contains multiple pieces from a single artist produced over time, creating microcosims of their carreers. Though "modern" art often appears nothing more than paint splattered on paper, none of that is here. These pieces have powerful political, social, spiritual, and human messages (leave the kids home), produced through ingenuity and invention, stretching the boundaries of "tradition", but leaving no doubt that they are "ART". As a result of Mr. Di Rosa's nurturing many young artists over time, he has amassed a legacy everyone should see. If you love art, I promise you will be overwhelmed!

This place has got it all. An excentric art collector. A house tour. Strange Rules. Local legend. It's definitely worth it. The art is modern: sculpture, huge outdoor installation pieces, paintings, talking birds on ladders (?), decorated cars, video, photography, floating cows, mixed media. If you like modern at all, you'll find pieces you enjoy. The di Rosa preserve is an experience I'll never forget.

Editor's Review

An intriguing collection on display in three galleries and a huge outdoor sculpture garden.  See the full editorial review.
