The Place for the Perfect Pair

by saira_7

This was one of my best retail experiences ever. My goal was to take some time -- for the first time ever -- and try on jeans at a store where the sales people know their stuff. If this is your goal, then AB Fits is the place. A special shout out to Melissa - who was both experienced and patient - and who found me 2 perfect pairs. Lots of cute t-shirts too. This is the way shopping should be!

My experience was in total contrast to some of the other (very negative) Citysearch reviews. I'd encourage you to go into AB Fits and see for yourself what buying a perfect pair of jeans is like.

  • Pros: knowledgeable and patient sales personnel
  • Cons: None that I could discern

snob and a half owned, jean selection galore

by pandibabi

i love that hemming is free, but i hate the fact that the owner and some of the employees are complete snobs. there is not much of a greeting (if at all) when they buzz you in and they make snarky little comments to customers. no retailer (meaning any and all, high and low) should be rude and condescending towards customers. i mean, after all you want people to buy from you. being rude and snobby is always completely unacceptable in my book. i am torn between going back or not because i love the jeans+free hemming and fawning over/saving up for some of their chic clothing. i do not like to support such dull snobs, but what they are selling is great (oh yes, and not cheap in quality (or so i think) and price.) if you hold customer service higher than the product, then don't shop here. oh! but think of the free hemming! damn you ab fits!

  • Pros: the clothes/jeans, free hemming
  • Cons: service, prices (i know, to be expected)

too bad the service is terrible

by franca12

selection is pretty good, but the service is terrible. plus, i don't mind dropping some $$$ for jeans that are great and hopefully unique...but after buying a pair at abfits, a few months later they were in all the other stores in town. check out what they have, but go somewhere else to buy...

Stylish funk rules at this eclectic casual wear store.

by Contributor

In Short
The owners have imported clothing from Europe and Asia to form a unique mix of shirts, slacks, coats and other wear for both genders. Everything blends together as if it were made on the premises, such as the trendy French jeans, or the eye-popping socks and handkerchiefs from Japan. The owners have in fact designed some nifty T-shirts and men's button shirts (the Cuban, the Andrew, the Perfect, the Jerry, the Workshirt) made from imported Japanese fabric.

SF Jean Mecca

by rpentle280

Being a jean lover, I look for the places where I can find a selection that not every store carries and brands that not everyone will be wearing. I check back into this store every few weeks since they are constantly getting fresh shipments. They haven't let me down yet. The helpful staff gives you honest opinions so you don't feel like you're being oversold in any way. The owners are masters at finding hard-to-find denim duds and designer tees... check this place out if you're looking for that perfect pair. They take care of you here.

  • Pros: selection, customer service, variety
  • Cons: parking

Treat you like a ... peasant!

by sfgam001

They do carry lots of unique stuff, some of which I've never seen in SF. But the poor service drives me away every time. You must be buzzed into the Grant Street store. So you'd think that after they see you, and buzz you in, that you'd get at least a greeting. In four visits, not even a "hello". The sales people are too busy with paperwork and folding to help a customer or, heaven forbid, to sell. If you truly love it, buy it. Otherwise, take your money elsewhere.

  • Pros: Unique product, Great selection
  • Cons: Poor service, Cramped store, Not shoppable

AB F--ABULOUS

by ryan86

SO I just have to say this is my favorite store in the city...i am a very well seasoned shopper and most places pale in comparison..The stock all the best in denim Rogan,Hudson,Notify,Earnest Sewn,Paper denim and cloth ect. They always have my size and if not they get it from their other store because they know how i dont like going to north beach...and the alterations are free what could be better?? ooh yeah the sales staff...theyre excellent they know everything about all of the merchandise..they tell me what will fit me and what will not...rather than handing me stacks and stacks of things and having me try them all on..and theyre soo sweet...unlike some of the other high end places around town. So if great clothes, from a great store owned and opperated by great people is what youre after this is the place to go.

  • Pros: excellent staff, great merchandise, free alterations

If you are sick of looking like everyone else, this is the place for you. Unique quality clothings in latest fashion. Designer jeans that you can only find in a handful of places in the city- with no extra charge for alteration (though it takes more than a week to have them altered). Clothes are expensive, but definetely worth the money.

Great Selection

by booty168

I like AB Fits for their interesting range of clothes. It is rather pricey for casual stuff, but the quality is generally good and I believe you get what you paid for. The staff has ranged from not very helpful to pretty nice. Bottom line: if you want to spend a lot of money for really nice casual clothes, go for it. Just be aware that parking is difficult.
