Deep Sushi!! A No Go!!

by mikaelasf99

After hearing all about this place from a friend I decided to go with some friends. Turned out to be the worst experience of a sushi place I have ever been to! Drinks were way too expensive and the staff was very unattentive. The bartender/owner at the back lounge thought he was way too cool and all he did was flirt with all my friends...they saw right through his phony attitude! It took him 20 minutes to get us 2 drinks...and they weren't even worth the wait! The food is good, however, not worth the wait! They must have a lot of friends posting on here to get there rating up because just a week ago they only had 2 stars! Thank goodness for loyal friends. I will never go back!!

  • Pros: Food...but too expensive!
  • Cons: Bartender thought he was way too cool! Service was terrible! If I want to get hitt on I'll go to a club!

I can quite honestly say this place is no good!

by sweetbeeali

My first time here, things were going okay. 45min into the dinner we hadn't received any of the sushi. This is mind blowing given the place couldn't seat more than 50 people, and the fact that it is, sushi! Well, at this 45min mark, the waitress comes to tell us one of the orders we made was not available! Okay, it has taken them 45 minutes to not make our food, and now, inform us what we order is not coming at all. Appalled. And not a single gesture was made by the establishment. We stayed and ate the sushi, swearing to never come back.

My second time there, I live very close and decided to give them a chance. I come from the service industry and know these things happen. Virtually the same incident again. The food took so long, one hour, I decided to ask the waitress what the hold up was. She shrugged with little to no response. Again, no gesture made. We didn't stay to finish this time. We had it packed up and left.

My third time there, by now you're thinking I am insane. Me too. See I live so close and love Japanese food. Our newly discovered joint was closed for the holiday so we moseyed over here. Bad move! Now, it seems to be run by a bunch of New York jerks. The food was once again extremely late. We had to flag people down for drink refills, they NY people seemed more interested in their other NY friends in the place. On top of all the usual bad service and late food, we now had attitude. It was as if we were imposing by being costumers with needs. You know, food and drink needs.

After three consecutive visits that all ended in bad services, and quite honestly not that great of sushi, I can say this place is no good!

Rude, unprofessional service

by wolftag

A friend and I arrived without a reservation on a Friday night, fully expecting to have to wait a long time. We were pleasantly surprised to be taken to a nicely decorated lounge in a room off the back of the main dining area. We seated ourselves and ordered drinks. 5 minutes later, another waiter came back and asked us to move because "a large party was coming in". We moved to the very uncomfortable bar stools. The waiter then sat 4 people where we were sitting. There was plenty of room througout the lounge, and no need at all to insult us making us move for a prettier group.

We decided to pay for our drinks and leave. After waiting a painful amount of time, the bartender popped in and told me "Can you wait? I'm helping someone else". I just through enough money on the table to cover the drinks and walked out.

I do think the decoration is nice, so I'll give Deep Sushi a 1.

  • Pros: Nice decor, didn't get to try the food
  • Cons: We weren't pretty enough to be treated well. Rude service.

My new favorite sushi bar

by nicktortorelli

The service is always great, friendly, warm and helpful.

The food is fresh (if is not, they will not serve it).

The imagination and creativity of the decor and food is fantastic.

I have been to Sushi Bars all over the world for decades and this place ranks up there with the best of them, AND THE ARE HERE IN NOE VALLEY :-).

If I could afford it I would eat there every day.

Way to go!

  • Pros: Everything
  • Cons: Can't think of any after going there since it opened.

Deep Sushi was a great find

by diehardwarriorsfan

Deep Sushi is a really cool place. It has a lot of interesting dishes and they're prepared like a piece of art! The dining room is set up nicely too. Get the Sake Sampler - it's a great deal! The service was great too. All in all, I'd return and I'd recommend this place to sushi fiends in the Bay Area.

  • Pros: Sake Sampler, Cool sushi dishes

Deep Sushi - Continuing to Hook em In

by cjglynn

Without a sign to attract passers-by, Deep Sushi isnt fishing for walk-in customers. However, the intrepid few that venture inside can partake of raw delicacies prepared by knowledgeable, if harried, sushi chefs. With tables so close together that patrons cannot have private conversations, the dining room is tiny. Plan on imitating a sardine as the service staff scurries by and other patrons arrive or depart. With all the usual items, the sushi menu also includes some interesting additions like the Green Dragon Roll with asparagus tempura. Another highlight is the premium sake menu, featuring all manner of rice wine, from the standard to the sublime. Service is friendly, and portions are reasonable. However, the wait may cause you to want to jump ship and order a pizza. With reasonable prices for San Francisco ($146 for dinner for 2 with ample premium sake), Deep Sushi will continue to hook em in.

  • Pros: Good fish
  • Cons: Long wait for food
