I'm definitely recommending Rose's Cafe to all my friends.
by vdaniels96
My girlfriends and I have made a pact that from now on, this restaurant is our new "girl's night out restaurant". It's the type of place with waitstaff who are so very accommodating to let us squeeze in 2 more people after some friends joined in the last minute (after I called one on her cell about the menu items).
We were delighted to have such a great restaurant in our neighborhood too since the restaurants in this area are a bit lacking, to say the least.
I'm definitely recommending Rose's Cafe to all my friends.
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
The best breakfast in Cow Hollow
by lola2727
Cow Hollow has some amazing restaurants but Rose's Cafe is top 5 for me. If you want an amazing breakfast, you have to try this restuarant! You must order a large latte and drop in a couple sugar cubes. The breakfast pizzas are delicious and so are the fresh baked goods. You should always bring a friend to share with....get a bunch of things to split. Great, great food.
Really Freakin' Dissappionting
by maraklein
Funny to read reviews that say "you won't be disappointed". SO not true. A party with more people that came after us was seated before us, service was slow & a little inattentive, it took over 30 mins for the food to arrive, the food wasn't as described on the menu when it arrived, they tried to correct it and still sucked. Just an overall disappointing experience and I will make an effort to NOT return in the future.
Good food

This is one of my top restaurant. I like the comfortable sofa and the bar area. They have really tasty salad and salmon sandwich is my favorite. My mom likes their pasta. my husband love thier pizza. This is a place that you can take somone there and they would not disappointed.
- Pros: they have nice outside sitting, friendly for kids
- Cons: hard to get parking sometimes
Decent Food, but Overpriced
by chocolorac
Overall, it was a pleasant experience -- but I can't say it ranks high on repeat value b/c the food is overpriced. We went for dinner on a Friday night. To our surprise (and that of the hostess'), we were able to get seating without reservations. The service was great and the setting was friendly (although not recommended for a group larger than ~6), but neither of us were impressed with the food. It's around Filmore, where there are other nearby options. With the exception of checking out their brunch on a nice day for outside seating, I'd probably go to another place.
- Pros: Friendly and Pleasant Service, Cozy yet Chic Ambience
- Cons: Food for the Price, Overpriced
Terrific breakfast pizza that's worth the wait
by blkestin
And wait you will, if you go during prime brunch hours. If you're willing to sit down outside, you may sit more quickly, however, so put on your warm jacket and head to Rose's. I love the pizza with the fontina cheese, soft boiled eggs, and smoked ham. The soppresata & arugula one is tasty, too, if you like spicy, peppery food. Yum.
- Pros: Pizza, Steiner St outdoor tables are cozy and quiet
- Cons: long waits to sit down during brunch, noisy inside
Italian-style pizzas, fresh salads and a lively atmosphere highlight this Cow Hollow restaurant.

The Scene
This popular eatery has a steady drop-in clientele throughout the day, from stroller-pushing moms getting a caffeine jolt to well-groomed lunch ladies and young Cow Hollow couples out for dinner. The sidewalk tables are particularly coveted; the main room, with its high ceiling and open kitchen, can get extremely loud.
The Food
The menu dishes out well-executed renditions of Cal-Italian fare. Fresh, well-dressed salads and blistered thin-crust pizzas are served in big shareable portions. Anything bread-based is a good bet, from stuffed sandwich "cozys" to the tasty focaccia topped with caramelized onion shards in the bread basket. A crisp-skinned, homey half chicken served over mashed potatoes gives the grill station a good name, too. However, pastas can be weak, drowning in olive oil and skimpy on flavor.

Not a lot of selection, but their food is still great. We had the spinach/prosciutto dish and the new potato hash... they were both excellent. There was a bit of a wait, so just get there early.
- Cons: a little pricey
Wonderful food, sit outside if you can
by natken
I love this neighborhood spot, usually packed but not a long wait. Outside there are heating lamps and romantic, cozy lighting. Great spot for a date or catching up with a friend. Inside can be noisy however. And you can't come here without ordering the foccacia. It is simply amazing, you will crave it for weeks afterwards.
Great Place to Bring Out of Towners, Perfect for a Light Meal
by lilybart80
Another winner on Union Street. One of the best places to bring out of towners - the food is good, the menu changes regularly, the wine list is large enough to be interesting and on weekday afternoons, a glass of wine is half price. This is a great place to wind down a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with a glass of wine and some olives. It's also a nice place to meet someone for an informal business lunch. And it's a nice place for an informal dinner before a movie, after shopping, or anytime you want great food in a pretty setting. Parking can be tough, though they've got valet parking at dinner.
- Pros: wonderful sandwiches and pizzas, pretty room, good wine list
- Cons: parking is tough
