SLOOOOWWW DELIVERY
by ashry at Citysearch
I made an order at 5:30 in the evening for delivery. At 7:30, my food still didn't arrive. I called at 6:40, and the lady assured me that my order was on the way. After three more phone cal ls, the lady offered me a $3.00 discount, which wasn't a good offer considering the amount of food I ordered. She told me then that she'd call me back when she spoke to the delivery driver. Although extremely tempted, I didn't tell them to keep the food, only because I was starving. The food finally arrived, and it wasn't bad. The General Zsou Chicken was very good, won ton soup not good, chow mein and everything else was fine.
- Pros: general zsou chicken
- Cons: delivery
Excellent food
by Hawyard at Citysearch
The food is great and fresh. A lot of food. The price is great, cheap. The waiter Jack is always helpful. I like this restaurant. Colorful wall and open kitchen. The dining room and the bathroom are clean. It serves lunch and diner.
The first time I learn this restaurant was from San Francisco KGO radio about seven or nine year ago. KGO radio recommended this San Francisco neighborhood restaurant.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Too much food
Amazing Asian cuisine at a great price
by courtaneywilson at Citysearch
Nan King Road is a treasure in the Inner Sunset. Nestled away on 9th, Nan King Road provides amazing food for unbelievable prices. There isn't a dish that I dislike -- and I've tried almost their entire menu. Specifically, I'd recommend two things: egg rolls (the best I've ever had) and sesame chicken (I believe the phrase "to die for" was created because of this dish). The Walnut Prawns and Eggplant Chicken are also amazing -- prawns are fresh and the chicken is breast meat -- not just "white" meat. Although their service can be slow, I've had numerous dinner parties here (20+ people) with no reservation and they have always been accommodating. When considering price and quality, Nan King is my favorite restaurant in the city.
Good deal, but not great for big-party take-out
by curious_durian at Citysearch
Just got a large take-out order. The owner gave us a really good deal: $200 for 2 large trays each of broccoli beef, chicken with eggplant, veggie dish, shanghai noodles, potstickers, and egg rolls. There was definitely plenty of food. Nonetheless each dish kinda resembled each other and actually quite greasy. The 'famous' potstickers were bad with thick flour skins; egg rolls were worse than typical. I think if you're looking for cheap food with big portions and not necessarily good quality, then go for it.
- Pros: cheap, lots of veggie, nice staff
- Cons: greasy, too heavy on sauce
great value for lunch
by spashop at Citysearch
Great deal/value for lunch. $5 lunch includes hot n sour soup, entree and bowl of rice and 2 wonton crips (dessert). (I always have enough leftover for another meal)
lunch options: chicken and veggies, tofu, beef and veggies. delicious. Very friendly service. there are like 12 options.
great place for a group b/c of the value and ease of getting a table.
- Pros: value, good food
Pleasantly Surprised - we'll be back
by cpchong at Citysearch
After walking by this place a few times and reading some prior reviews, we finally decided to give it a shot. We're glad we did. First, it had a very nice and clean atmosphere. The main dishes were very good, not overly oily and very tasty. We had the Chicken with Basil/Eggplant and the Spicy Beef Chow Fun. The hot'n'sour soup was so-so and the Steamed Chicken Dumplings were good. We would definitly recommend this place over most Chinatown establishments.
- Pros: Food, Dining
- Cons: Parking

great food at a great price. Service was wonderful and friendly staff. Look forward to returning to san francisco just to eat here!
Sweet and simple, this Inner Sunset spot serves modern Chinese fare at close to rock-bottom prices.

In Short
The concrete floors, large abstract paintings, and smooth butcher-block tables give Nan King Road Bistro a clean, contemporary feel. Popular for takeout as well as dining in, the eclectic menu offers small plates, large plates, and noodle dishes of pan-Asian cuisine. For those who prefer meals of the meatless variety, many of the dishes are available with tofu, and low prices means there is plenty to share.
YUM!
by giantsgal at Citysearch
This is a great, casual eatery in the Sunset with really great dishes. Try the Duck Biscuits to start ... they are excellent. Veggies are always fresh and crisp and not drowning in sauce. Chicken with basil and eggplant is one of my faves and is consistently good. The service is always friendly and the atmosphere is mellow and laid back.
yuck

Stay away from the pork tenderloin with raspberry sauce unless you like food drowned in jam! The honey sesame chicken wasn't much better. Noodle dishes seemed much better but we had already ordered. Wouldn't go back here.
