Sashimi Paradise
by CSMobileUser
I drive from the east bay to get their fresh salmon sashimi. My wife, who is not a fan of any fish let alone raw... And she loves Yum Yum salmon sashimi
fresh fish great value
by pcloadletter
This place is a must if you live in the sunset or richmond districts. The fish is always fresh and delicious, and if you order by the pound (or half, or quarter pound) it is so cheap it's practically daylight robbery. seriously, a pound of salmon for ~$11? Plus $2 for them to slice it for you. The only con to this place is that I'd say only ~75% of the time is the fish amazing. Don't get me wrong, the other 25% of the time it's good, just not amazing like the other times. Also, sometimes the cuts of fish still have a little bit (tiny sliver really) of skin on it which I don't like. As I almost always order take-out I will in these cases slice off the skin at home. Regardless, this place is amazing and one of only 3-4 regular places I would eat at while living in the outer Richmond district. Enjoy! And be willing to give it more than one chance
- Pros: fresh fish, cheap
- Cons: little bit inconsistent but worth it!
SMELLY
by cheekers
i simply wanted fresh tuna so i could prepare some tuna tartar tonight. i called 30 minutes before hand to ask if their tuna was fresh enough so i could make my tartar tonight and when it was shipped to them. yes, and this morning.
pleased, i picked some up and brought it home to find it SMELLY AND SOFT. i returned to their fish market 20 minutes later for a refund and the owner was a RUDE RUDE RUDE RUDE, telling me that he can't sell it to another customer so he wouldn't give me my money back. he said that he didn't know what I did to it because i'd taken it out of his fish market. frankly, he shouldn't have sold it to anyone else. it WASN'T FRESH as he told me on the phone an hour earlier.
the sushi is fair, but the market part is unacceptable and the owner's customer service crappy. i'll never go back even though i used to like them.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: cheap
Fresh and cheap, couldn't ask for more!
by Celstrial
New to the city and had to find fresh fish because there are so many sushi restaurants in the city. This shop is actually a fish shop that has a sushi chef making sushi mostly togo. There are 3 small tables so not ideal for large group dining. The fish is immaculately fresh. I have had sushi all over the states and this is as fresh as it gets. And most amazing is the price. Hamachi belly and toro for $2 a piece. I wanted to try everything!! I can't recommend this place more if you're not caring too much for ambiance, but love great sushi.
- Pros: cheap, fresh, fast
- Cons: not much seating, no ambiance
Freshest sushi in the city!
by dancingyel
Hands down, my favorite "quickie" sushi place. The sushi here is cheap, fresh, and fairly creative. I love the yellowtail with mango roll, for example. Prices can't be beat, and the fish is the freshest I've had. This isn't a place for a nice, sit-down meal, however. Your best bet is to order take-out and eat it at home or go to Golden Gate Park for a nice picnic.
- Pros: cheap, ultra fresh, quick
- Cons: no place to eat there
Tiny Sunset fish market saves the freshest catch for local diners.

In Short
Devoted fans of ultra-fresh sushi wait for one of the restaurant's three tables or crowd the take-out counter for excellent fish and bizarrely low prices at this market-meets-eatery. Though sushi offerings are traditional at first glance, a closer look reveals inventive combinations such as the papaya salmon roll. Vegetarians can choose from a number of fish-less nigiri or maki, such as the V8 (shiitake, cucumber, avocado, squash, burdock, sprouts, spinach and takuwan).
Good Sushi For Cheap

Yum Yum Fish is Japanese owned and operated. It's 1/2 fish market, 1/2 sushi counter, so the fish used in the sushi is extremely fresh, and is sold at or near wholesale price. For example, a 2-piece order of maguro here is $2.40; at any other decent sushi restaurant, it'll be around $4.00. This is more of a "deli" style place, and it closes at 7:30, so it's not a place you'd go to for a nice dinner. But it is great if you want to get great, fresh fish at a cheap price. They have a few small tables for dining in, too. Service is always good.
- Pros: Fresh fish, Tastes good, Cheap
- Cons: Not a "restaurant", Closes by 7:30
Best fish in the world ?
by aaronfee
Bar none the best quality fish in the city, the bay area, or perhaps the world !
One can easily spend three times as much for sushi that is almost (but not quite) as good, sure you will get 'ambiance' and a 'waiter' -- but if you want masterfully prepared fresh fish then head over to yum yum.
Shiro Maguro Toro
Blue Fin Chu Toro
Hamachi Toro
- Pros: Fresh, Fast, Inexpensive
- Cons: Other People, Eating All The, Yummy Fish
The Best
by adams_eating
With the exception of the sushi place on the 100 block of rue Dauphine in Paris, this is the best sushi spot in the world . . . and it's less expensive. Akiko's (Mason Street) also is out of this world, but Yum Yum Fish is the cheapest you will find in the City. Combination of quality and price cannot be beat. I love it there, and often I'll time it so I can get a table.
take out
by foodielover
Most of the business here is takeout. The sushi business shares space with a tiny fish market. You can fit 2-3 at the tiny tables for a quick lunch bite but not really a dine-in kind of place. Their prices went up again recently and a large platter to feed a party crowd costs over $50, still reasonable compared to other places. Great place to order some quick sushii to take home.
- Pros: fast service, inexpensive, good sushi
- Cons: parking a little hard, not fancy dining, small place
