worst Indian food I have ever tried

Indian is one of my favorites but this place made me leave before finishing the food just to go get my lunch in a better place !!
the food is BAD BAD BAD !!!
I don't know what the hell they put in the Curries but the meat feels like it is all the left overs from the chicken, all the skin and bone pieces just made me sick !!!
don't go there....
Huge Disappointment

I was incredibly disappointed with Star India. Let's face it, everyone who goes here goes for the $10 all you can eat buffet. The food was ridiculously bland and tasteless. The kheer was watery, the gulab jaman tasted like Entenmann's popems dipped in watery honey. The chana masala was bland. As if that wasn't bad enough, 3/4 of the food was cold. On top of that, all 4 waiters stand there and stare you down while you eat. Save yourself the time and money and find another all-you-can-eat Indian buffet.
- Pros: none
- Cons: waitstaff, cold, bland food
Mediocre Indian Food by Mel C. at InsiderPages

Star India has a lunch and dinner buffet for $8.99 per person, which isn't a bad deal. The food isn't superb, but it's pretty good for what you're paying. They serve about 8 or 9 different dishes as well as soup and salad. Sometimes it takes awhile for them to refill the food and the naan is soggy at times..

That was hands down the most insulting and terrible dining experience I've ever had. We walked in to be met by 6 sets of piercing eyes of waiters staring at us (a 2 to 1 waiter to customer ratio at that point). We went to order the vegetarian dish for two- only for take out they say... um, ok. Then, we ordered two dinners from their sub-par buffet where week old tortillas are passed off as nan- and they refuse to accept the citysearch coupon. The scene went as follows:
Us: We have a coupon for buy one, get one free.
Them: That is no good.
Us: why?
[ran away to get who appears to be a manager, they are yelled at us the entire time in front of the whole restaurant]
Them: Where did you get this?
Us: Citysearch, it's online.
Them: It's for dine in only.
Us: We are dining in.
Them: It is for dinner only.
Us: It's 5:30 pm, we are eating dinner.
Them: It's only for certain entrees.
Us: It says two dinners, we had two dinners. It doesn't say anything about a particular entree.
Them: You should have cleared this with us when you came in, we will not accept it.
Us: We had no reason to believe there would be a problem, it doesn't say to ask our server.
Them [yelling emphatically]: No, you pay for it all! [ran off]
Fortunately there were only 3 other customers there- two lost tourists and a pasty loner guy, or else that could have been really embarassing!
- Pros: No wait for a table!
- Cons: SO rude, didn't accept the coupon, lame "crowd"
Great food and delivery

We have been ordering delivery from Star India for over 3 years. The food is consistently good, prices are low, and delivery is usually 30-45 minutes. The samosas and spinach dishes are the best around.
bad service, mediocre food

It took 2 hours for them to deliver the food and they were unapologetic about it. Then the food was mediocre and the kashmiri naan tasted strange.
- Pros: Affordable
- Cons: terrible service and strange tasting food
Great buffet and delicious food

The all-day buffet is a great value and the food is actually really good. The tandoori chicken is always fresh and juicy and they have a good variety of offerings. I was especially pleased to find samosas on the buffet! The waiters are very pleasant and responsive and the atmosphere is very cozy, despite the restaurant's relative spaciousness. Parking is a breeze, too - a definite plus in the city.
Delivery is great too. They are quick and always curteous, and the food is delicious. Chicken tikka kabbobs are to die for.
- Pros: Great food, good service, cheap
they are not really open until 11pm!

Traditional dishes, plus Indian pizza, vegetarian specialties, dinner deals for two and more. Twenty-five-item lunch buffet is served daily.
Lunch and Dinner Buffet

This place serves buffet for lunch and dinnner, but you can order from the menu at both meals. Their veggie and dessert items in the buffet are pretty standard--veggie korma (nice and creamy), saag paneer (nice and creamy), kheer (pretty good), jalub gamon (works well with the kheer), etc--but they're solid. Unfortunately I can't say much for the meat dishes because I'm a vegetarian. Great value at $7.95 for buffet at both meals.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Buffet Lunch & Dinner
- Cons: Parking on Geary
