i did it and i feel so dirty, but i look fantastic!! after 10 years with my hairdresser (whom i loved and swore was the best) i cheated on her with another stylist. do i feel guilty? yes. was it worth it? many times, yes. i don't care who does your hair now. dump them and run straight into the chair of the sublimely talented TARA. send your old stylist a bunch of flowers with thanks for the good times you shared and move on. tara's nimble and talented scissors will make your old stylist's work look like it was done with meat cleavers.

Zip Zap is great, love the atmosphere and the decor. Everyone in there is uber friendly. Mike's cut my hair twice now - both times I was in and out in under 30 minutes and my hair looked great! It's very reasonably priced compared to the shee shee salons. And you don't have to wait 6 months to get an appointment!
Pros: Price, atmosphere, people
Cons: None

Went their for the first time last week to have my haircut. Although the stylist was nice and seem like she knew what I wanted, I ended up with a terrible haircut. When I made the appointment, I explained I needed someone who really knew how to cut fine hair. Half-way through styling my hair the stylist could tell I was not happy, it look like some kind of white trash cut, so what does she do, chops away at it more. Now everyday, I have to use a curling iron on my short hair to cover up the bad job. It will be at least six months before I can do anything with it. I just about want to cry. I will never go there again. Why are their so many bad stylists in SF? I can't say I was impressed with any of the other cuts that were being done by the other stylists.
Pros: Location
Cons: No skills, bad cuts

I had been having trouble finding someone to give me great highlights, and becoming frustrated always winding up with brassy streaks. A friend recomended James at ZipZap. I was a little reluctant, since I have had so many horrible experiences. I made the appointment and I have never made a better decision. My hair color is gorgeous, It's been 3 weeks and still looks great. On top of being a wonderful colorist, he has a great personality AND you get a complimentary haircut with your first set of highlights!
Pros: great service, friendly staff

I have been going to Linda at Zip Zap for a little over a year and have never left feeling disappointed. Over this last year I have colored my hair to varying degrees of blonde and dark brown, and each time I left feeling great. The relaxed vibe puts you to ease, and you can tell that all the people who work there genuinely get along (a rarity among salons). Inside, it's a hodgepodge of decor, but very clean and professionally kept. They also use the best hair products on the market, and don't ever pressure you to purchase them. If you are new to the city, or looking for a new salon, I definitely recommend Zip Zap.
Pros: Very Skilled Staff, Great ambiance
Cons: None
