wasteland

by rarwypop

this store is amazing, a must see if you are in SF. they have a wide selection of vintage and thrifty clothing. you literally could spend hours looking at everything they have. the biggest drawback is the prices. for some of the most threadbare shirts you have ever seen its at least 20+ bucks!! but if you have some extra cash its a great store.

Great authenic thrift store with good prices

by clawsgee

Nowadays you go to the thrift store...well they don't call it that anymore. Now it is "vintage" which equals more money. Anyway, the choices are slim and the prices are ridiculous. Wasteland is the only spot that keeps it real. You can always find the best 50's -70's gear and I love it. Go if you are in town.

a MUST

by pandibabi

if you love shopping/clothes/shoes/bags/etc. (especially vintage) at all you must go here. you WILL find something. whether it is designer or not they have a vast and great selection. most of the employees are pretty friendly and all have their own sweet style (they get all the good goods first!)

  • Pros: the stuff!

The city's biggest vintage store is a treasure trove of wild streetwear and the occasional museum piece.

by Kim Cooper

Haight Street fashion plates treat the Wasteland as their personal closet, bringing tired favorites to exchange for someone else's new-old gem. The vast, barn-like space behind the gorgeous entryway is well-organized, with the most fabulous pieces safely hung up on the walls. There are plenty of big, well-lit dressing rooms so friends can try things on together. The constantly changing stock ranges from distressed Victoriana to cowboy chic; psychedelic sun wear to big furry jackets; slinky kimonos to floppy leather hats, and always really cool shoes. The clientele is youthful and funky, inclined to mix styles and eras. There are selected new items, including neon-colored pageboy wigs, retro-repro sunglasses, and a line of saucy baby T's silk-screened with images of Bowie, the NY Dolls and ABC. The front counter is packed with hip accessories like chunky belt buckles, glittery faux jewels and vintage rock-and-roll patches.

A vintage lover's mecca

by dierks_vintagefreak

When walking into The Waistland, one instantly knows that the store they have chosen to browse through is one worth their time. This store is full of yester designer duds such as marc jacobs, yves saint laurent, burberry etc.. They have more of the nameless vintage finds though. You can not walk in and walk out without buying something if you are a true vintage lover. There is a perfect piece for everyone.

  • Pros: awsome music, friendly service, lovley building
