BEST TUNA EVER!

by valerielikesgoodfood

Is it just me or is it impossible to find good tuna lately in SF? Anyways where was I...this place has the best tuna ever! Mango rolls are to die for; they are served crispy and hot with yummy FRESH tuna inside! The tuna tower has ruby red color to it and makes me feel like singing! It all comes at a price, but you'll forget about the check soon and only the melt in your mouth tuna will remain! Come here on a date w/ someone you never wanna see again and ruthlessly stuff your face with the food!

  • Pros: TUUUUUNNNAAA, cute wait staff, industrial decor
  • Cons: noisey, hard to find parking

Yummy wine!

by dancingyel

My boyfriend and I went there on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't very crowded, and we loved it! The wine selection was quite large and reasonably priced, and the dessert (Vietnamese coffee profiteroles) and the cheese (the blue) we ordered were both great. The service was very friendly, if a little absent-minded. They forgot our dessert wine, but when they did remember, they apologized profusely and didn't charge us for it. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Cole Valley Gem!

by osunikki

I just recently celebrated my 30th birthday at EOS. Not only did the GM email me several times and accept my many changes, but she was polite, thorough and everything went smooth from the planning stages to the execution. I was shocked at the personal attention I received-in a good way. Not only was the food amazing (the flavors were intense, all so different and mind blowing) but the service was superb. Our servers were so friendly, but not cheesy idiots. They were present, but not hovering. We had over 20 people at the table (upstairs) and everyone was pleased with their experience. We had a prixe fixe menu in place at a great price w/ an array of the chef's dishes. Everyone got to try a bit of everything which I think ensured happiness in my party. The GM had printed up personalized invitations for me, which was so great. The planning of the menu, printing of the menu and reservation of the upstairs table cost me NOTHING. I couldn't believe it. The meal was $35 per person not including gratuity or alcohol. Unbelievable. I will be back. My personal faves: The shitaake dumplings and scallops. Yummy. If you aren't fortunate to live in walking distance like I do, be sure to take the Muni. N drops off right in front of the restaurant at Carl and Cole. Happy Eating!

GREAT PLACE!!

by stevosf

All I'm going to say is that I love eating here. Try to sit up stairs less traffic. And hey, if you're early stop by the wine bar next door!

  • Pros: AMAZING FOOD

This Cole Valley gem fuses fine wine and intriguing Asian fusion into pure dining excitement.

The Scene
Storefront surroundings give way to a minimalist, contemporary decor inside this popular restaurant and wine bar. The soft green walls and intricate bamboo window treatments frame a distinguished wraparound bar in jet black, while the semi-open kitchen entices patrons with sophisticated spicy aromas.

The Food
EOS was one of the first Asian-fusion joints in town, creating interesting Pan-Asian food with a California twist. Start with the Thai spiced chopped salad. Then move on to the ahi tuna and mango rolls. Many dishes are infused with a sugary accent, but be sure to save room for the "bananamisu" dessert.

Rude Staff and not knowledgable on wines

by kellybosco

This was my third time at EOS and my experience has been consistent:

-Rude staff

-Staff does not know the wines-not a good thing for a wine bar

-I reserved a table, called the same day to confirm and still had to wait to be seated

-Poor wine list- cheap foreign wines and very poor selection of Californian wines

-Food and ambience is still good but with so many wonderful restaurants in the city I will not be rushing to EOS again and will certainly not recommend it.

My friend had a simliar experience a week ago.

Bottom line: consistently bad service

  • Pros: Food and ambience
  • Cons: service and poor wine list

My girlfriend and I came here and I thought everything was just perfect!! The food and wine were absolutely delicious (especially the tuna tartare) and service was decent as well. Overall, a wonderful dining experience and I will definitely return here again!!

Overrated Asian fusion

by cw2006

We made reservations and got a table at the worse location, nearest the entrance where it was cold. Fortunately, they also own a wine bar next door with the same menu, which we ended up getting a table relatively quickly. The service was fine but the food was terrible. Thai soup, special for the night, was awful. The other dishes (short ribs, beef filet) were mediocre and very small portions. The mussels were the only that we liked. Wine selection was decent.

  • Pros: Friendly service, Parking is ok, Wine bar cool concept
  • Cons: Food is terrible, Reservations sucked, Pricey

Overall-very positive experience

by nips

Had a nice time! The space looks like an updated victorian building, you can tell from the beams along the ceiling and the bathrooms, but the ambience was still very pleasant. Somewhat crowded for a Thurs nite and lots of late nite diners/couples on double dates sipping flights of wine and nibbling desserts (wasn't crazy about dessert). Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and gorged:2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 1 flight wine and 3 glasses wine for $180 (includes tax/tip). Yummi-pureed soup, mushroom dumplings, lamb, ahi tuna tower... not so crazy about the duck, curry squash and desserts (panna cotta and chocolate cake were average). Good selection of local and international wines. So I definitely recommend checking it out if you've never been before, although I don't think I'll be going back a 2nd time (too far from where I live, and there's so many other places in SF to try!!)

  • Pros: ambience, wine, lamb
  • Cons: service kinda slow, Sonoma Shiraz, bad!

Not bad, but not fabulous

by ehaude

I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The food was definitely very good, but the seating was very crowded and the service was average. Outside the food, the experience just wasn't that great. I travelled across town to go, and it wasn't really worth the trip. If I lived in the neighborhood, it would be a different story.

  • Pros: food, wine
  • Cons: crowded, parking
