A studio that lives up to its name
by MarieS
I have been going to the Body Gallery regularly since October 2007. It is a quiet, serene and cozy studio. The place lives up to its name “The art of Personalized Pilates”. My trainer, Jody, designs each session depending on how my body feels. Some days, I am stiffer (arthritis) and we do more stretching, some days I feel great and she works me out! I always feel like I am her only client, that’s how focused on me she is. As a result of my weekly visits, my body is much stronger, more flexible and looks a lot better. My arms and legs have long, strong muscles, my abs are finally getting strong! I have never liked exercise and now, I cannot live without my Pilates session. I joke that I feel just as good after Pilates than I do after a massage! I highly recommend the Body Gallery to anyone looking for personalized training.
- Pros: Personalized training
- Cons: parking can be difficult
One of the best...and I should know
by pisonof
I've studied Pilates for 11 years and have had more than 18 instructors in the US, Canada and France, so I know what makes a great teacher. Cassidy Moore, owner of the Body Gallery and my current instructor since December 2008, is one of the very few outstanding teachers I have had the pleasure to work with. Cassidy takes her work seriously. I am interested in the nuances of the Pilates method, not a mindless workout, and she provides the rigor that I require. She is the only teacher I've studied with who methodically builds a session to culminate in an advanced or super-advanced Pilates exercise. She does this by having me perform exercises during the hour that are components of, and lead up to, the "big one". When it is time to perform the advanced move, I understand it in my body and am able to perform with grace, control, and precision.
This is the quietest studio I have ever worked out in: there is always jazz, classical or other lovely music in the background, paintings or drawings from up and coming artists on the walls and sunlight streaming in through the curtains. Since there is at most one other trainer working with a client at the same time, one can really concentrate on the work at hand. It is a wonderful space made even more special by the quality of the instruction -- the studio really lives up to its title: The Art of Personalize Pilates.
- Pros: personalized attention; attention to detail; tranquil space
- Cons: absolutely none
Amazing Pilates Studio!
by jillml
This small studio does one thing, and they do it incredibly well. I highly recommend The Body Gallery for Pilates training, whether you are beginner or have been training for years. I had the wonderful good fortune to win a gift certificate for one session at The Body Gallery in a drawing. That was almost 18 months ago, and I am hooked! The trainers are incredibly skilled, and also fun and friendly. I've been working with Kamryn for quite awhile, and she is fabulous! I've also trained with a number of the other instructors, and they are all wonderful.
One of my favorite things about The Body Gallery is the comfortable, private setting. As someone who looks nothing like a dancer or hard-core athlete of any sort, I always feel completely at ease there. I feel they are happy to have me there and eager to help me make progress towards my personal fitness goals. They are very responsive to adjusting or adapting different exercises to make sure it works for me, which I greatly appreciate.
The wonderful people and comfortable environment at The Body Gallery are what?s kept me coming back for so long!

I've been a client at the Body Gallery since 2002 and have had great experiences with all their trainers. The studio is a very quiet, calm space and all the trainers really know what they're doing. I had some major dance injuries and pilates has almost completely eliminated the pain from the injuries.
- Pros: Great trainers, great space
- Cons: Price
Best Pilates in SF
by HHinSF
I took Pilates in Atlanta for 2 years and 1 year at another SF studio before I was fortunate enough to find the Body Gallery. It is an oasis - the surroundings relaxing and the workouts refreshing and energizing. My instructors are better than I've found anywhere, personalized and specific to what I desire to get out of each session. I am a skier, surfer, and tri-athlete so at times, they are pushing me the distance to train and work parts of my body that need it for these sports. They have also been my champions in getting my strength back after knee surgery last year. My body and my spirit have benefitted exponentially through Pilates and I wouldn't trade my instructors, Sonya and Trusha, for anyone. They're both AWESOME, but I think all of the trainers there are wonderful. Cheers to this oasis in the city!
- Pros: Personalized Pilates Training
best pilates studio in SF
by monazm9
I would like to call it my little slice of pilates heaven. Definately deserves a title of "the best kept secret" in the city, I work with the owner of the studio Cassidy who is extremely skilled and an absolute pleasure to work with. Cassidy bring a delicate balance of professionalism and warmth unlike I have ever seen. I started with pilates because I had an alinging back condition, she not only works with me at every step of the way to rehabilitate my back but improve overall muscle tone. I highly recommened body gallery to any one who iis looking of one on one pilates.

The Body Gallery, a great place to practice pilates
by montcalm
In 2001 I was being treated for a shoulder injury. When the problem didn't respond to either physical therapy or chiropractic my doctor recommended Pilates to strengthen the related muscles. He said that the carefully supervised workouts would help prevent re-injury to the area. Within weeks I noticed improvement and the problem eventually resolved completely. I found that the meditative atmosphere and intelligent instruction at the Body Gallery were just what I needed to recover and enjoy continued training. Pilates has helped me to become stronger and more flexible. I love the sessions.

I love The Body Gallery!
by jwshain
I will be forever grateful to the friend who recommended The Body Gallery to me. It is the first exercise program I have ever stayed with (after decades of trying it all). Pilates is physically and mentally challenging but leaves you feeling absolutely invigorated and focused. The trainers are thoroughly knowledgeable, positive and encouraging, and delightful to know. There is so much learn and gain from PIlates, and The Body Gallery provides first-rate instruction in a very pleasant, professional environment.
- Pros: Everything!
- Cons: Typical city neighborhood parking - not so bad.
