Dansbee1, what you wrote is disgusting. While I do not fall into the frat boy category, I, and the majority of the world population, fall into the heterosexual category and I am offended. I want to ask you this: What would happen if I wrote something like that but inserted gay instead of heterosexual? How would you like that? You are ignorant.

has great mojitos! fresh and a variety! and i'm normally not a drinker. if you dont think about how the cheeses, olives and vegetables were left out the whole night, it's pretty cool haha i havent gotten sick from it yet! :P only thing i dont like about it is how crowded it can get. otherwise, great hang out!

Pros: mojitos, free appetizers

Cons: crowded

What a shame. Once a nice gay bar, it's been invaded by (ugh) heterosexuals -- the fratboy and sorority element, at that. Don't these people have enough places to go without dragging our institutions down to their disgusting levels?

Pros: It's been in business a long time

Cons: Heterosexual fratboy pigs

I'm a gay, high end, professional businessman from Las Vegas, and I've been coming to the Lion Pub for about ten years, every time I'm in the City. I certainly regret that the gay character (mostly gay, professional males who live in the area) has beem deminished over the recent years, but at the same time, I'm fascinated to see this "discovery" of a great bar by the apparently straight, female professional class (and there boyfriends), as if it was all something brand new. The Lion Pub was a great bar ten years ago, and I'm sure will remain so (under present ownership) for many years to come. It's fun to hear the Ladies rave about fresh ingredients (ambience, etc.), when many bars have been using fresh lemons, limes & pineapples for an awfully long time. Gee, Gals, you really do need to get out more. Fortunately for the Pub, the Ladies are so together & professional that they would never think to stay in a bar beyoud nine o'clock, thus giving room for the decadent fellas. I've little doubt, that if we get a female president (much to be wished for ), you girls will discover a whole new San Francisco openning up to you. The bottom line is, the Lion Pub is a small gem, and now that gem is known throughout San Francisco. We who love her, give to the City, the Lion Pub as a gift. Who knew?

Pros: Ambience, Bartenders, Service, Location

Cons: Happy Hour Often Too Popular

This used to be a quaint little gay bar that served as adjunct to the Alta Plaza. Now it is a glittery cheese bar with a arrested devoloped post graduate frat crowd. On weekend that horrible crowd is packed cheek to jowel with the cheap intoxication of Calvin Klein's One. Banana Republic attire suggested. The charm of the former bar can be imagined if you look to the walls and try to tune out the blazing pop music and cheap colorful cocktails dripping on titts already pouring out of their owners blouses. YUK

Pros: Great location.

Cons: Crowd of neanderthals.

This bar is awesome any day of the week. If you're looking for a chill after work spot mon-fri, you can always find a seat. While it gets crowded on the weekends, it's a great scene to come with a group of friends or just for a date. Fresh squeezed greyhounds, screwdrivers and fresh fruit mojitos. The bartenders are always working hard squeezing and muddling the drinks. The ambiance is cool, a dimly lit room with lots of plants and seating. Whatever you're looking for there is a time of week for you here at the bar. I love to come here during the week so that it isn't so crowded, but that's just what I like out of a bar.

Pros: Fresh fruit drinks, mood, secretly hidden away

Cons: parking, cash only

The bartenders and their little entourage are irritating. Too many college newbies running around turning this once classy bar into a bad fraternity party. Service can be slow and the crowd is just unappealing in its immature nature. Only recommended to the immature at heart.

Pros: Fruity Mojitos

Cons: Young underage crowd, unattentive staff, slow service

Lions Pub is a great spot for a week night drink. It's always crowded, they usually have a spread of free appetizers, and the fruity drinks are the best. However, if you're looking to dance this is not your place - a) it's too crowded and b) you can't really hear any music. Oh, and unfortunately they only take cash - so come prepared!

Pros: Great fruity drinks

Cons: Crowded

Great drinks and a good crowd. I am not so sure about the cheese that has been sitting out all night though.

Been here once or twice, and the atmosphere is fine. But the place is way too crowded, and it's way too loud.

Pros: Cute place.

Cons: Way too crowded.
