Great food but could be much cheaper!. I love Benihana, even though it is a chain, the food is great and the cooks repeat the routine over and over again, nothing new has happened since the day they opened in SF. I feel that it could be much cheaper!

Great lunch special. Benihana's food is really great. I especially love their chicken fried rice. It is usually pretty pricey, but if you come here during lunch they have a great deal. For around ~$10 you can get a meat dish, fried rice, soup, and a green tea for dessert. All the deliciousness of Benihana for half the price!

Knife-wielding chefs put on a show at this communal Japanese grill.. In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.

best of both world. benihana was by far the best japanese resturant i been to. the price was not to bad for two people. they gave us more food then we could possible eat. the entairtaiment was super. i am the type of guy that does not like suhii at all but when i try it at benihana the flavor was totally different. there bartetender were very friendly. also love the fact that the chef gave my date and the other laidys in the table lot of attention. also i love there coffe ice cream. i would defently go back again.

Awesome place!!. I had an awesome time at Benihana! We started out with a sushi roll which was very good and then had steak and shrimp it all tasted delicious! The fried rice was the best and the chef was very entertaining. The prices were good and the food good so I definitely recommend it for an entertaining night out!

TOO EXPENSIVE!. The service was terrific, friendly fun lively chef, waitresses refilling your water every 5 minutes, it was a fun and entertaining experience, but the food was NOT worth it. The sushi was good, but you can get good sushi anywhere. The fried rice was lacking flavor, the entrees were flavorless. All they do is add butter, salt and pepper to EVERYTHING. the food was just WAY too expensive for their lack of flavor, I had to steal the chef's teriyaki sauce secretly while he wasn't looking and add it onto my beef. The chicken had no flavor also, and neither did the teriyaki.

Whoopity Doo. The food here is too salty and overpriced. Only go if you want to see some guy twirl his knife. Other than that, expect bad food and bad service. You can bbq at home for a better price than ~$30/person.

Poor Service, Poor Quality. The service was poor. No one ever came to check for refills on drinks. The food was very salty. The soup was very salty. The Chef on the other hand was wonderful and pleasant. Everything was extra. If you wanted fried rice it was $2.50 extra. There were no free refills on drinks. (if anyone ever comes to ask if you would like one)

so-so.. The All you can Eat sushi experience is interesting. They seat you in a separate dining area from the rest of the restaraunt and give you a paper with 2 lists. You order as many you want from the first list, but you have to order at least 4 different items to order off the second list. Our waitress didn't explain this very well. She also kept disappearing when we wanted to order more, and we had to wait about 20 minutes for each serving.

FYI: Benihana will refuse to seat the people in your party together if some want to do All you can Eat sushi, and some would rather order off the menu.

Also, if you park in the Japantown center parking lot: they will not validate your parking.

Overall, you get what you pay for.

Hey I was entertained!. Read the other review for this place...I guess it doesn't take much to get me entertained, but I was impressed by the charming chef, his onion volcano, and beating heart made of rice! Fun and different from any other restaurant, my friends and I really enjoyed ourselves! The food was superb, I had the filet mignon...very tender! Great treat!!!
