Notorious for Hair

I recently decided to cut off 14 inches of hair which was a big decision. Notorious was able to get me in for an appointment in less than an hour and Jessie made me feel totally comfortable about the huge change I was about to go through. She gave me a beautiful haircut and great conversation to go with it. I love my short hair and would not go back to anyone else except Jessie at Notorious. And they charge less than $40 bucks for a cut if it's your first time there. It's a win-win situations!

Pros: So friendly, great prices, the whole place is fantastic!

Cons: I have no complaints about Notorious.

I really hate to be the one to write a poor review, but this needs to be said. I got my haircut today by Sandy, she was awesome!! This comment is not about her.....it is about the false advertisment on the website. They say that first time customers can get a haircut for $28.00, but this is not true. I was a first time customer, I got two inches cut off my hair and it took 1/2 an hour to do, the wash and cut. When I cashed out my total was $38.00. I was being a space-cadet and not paying attention to the total. I called back later to question why it was $38 and not $28. The lady on the phone stated, "... that it is $28.00 and up, depending on your hair length and products used.." I told her that on the website it says "$28.00 First time customers. It mentions nothing about it being a sliding scale" . She rudely told me that she was sorry i didnt understand and that she would have to look into changing what the website said. I hate to be frugel about $10.00, but money is money and if you are going to advertise a certain price, i think you should honor it. Consider a customer lost

I recently got my hair done @ this salon and I will continue to as long as Jessie is around. She was really friendly and helpful... as well as talented. I have very curly "ethnic" hair an most people find it very hard to do... She did an amazing color job and flat ironed/stlyed my hair... I have had this done at many salons and most of the time i leave very unhappy and with frizzy hair... I feel like Jessie went the extra mile to give me exactly what I wanted and it took half the time that it usually takes others to do what she did. She also suggested new products for me to use to keep my hair healthier... She was very personable and and I enjoyed the lively conversation... She was polite and personal while keeping a professional demeanor! I have finally found the stylist i have been looking for for years, and if you are looking for an amazing stylist with a great personality that will keep u looking great, this is the place to go!!! THANKS JESSIE!

Cons: nada.

Don't know about anyone else, but Jessie was amazing. I made a very drastic change, from bright blonde to chocolate brown. She made feel very comfortable. Was patient with me in making my final decision, even though I arrived late. She truly is a very talented hair stylist and colorist. On top of excellent service, the price was very affordable. I highly recommend this place.

To be honest, this place seems a little ho-hum to me. I wasn't blown away by the reception I received from the other employees, but Jessie was warm and had a smile. After a heck of a ride into the Castro, I was ready to just get done and get the heck home. Jessie worked her magic and when I saw the styled end result, I had to smile. She pumped up the fun style that she had given me last time and voila, my hair looks fresh and fun, and I am really really happy with the result. I brought examples of what I want my hair to look like in 4 months, and I feel like she really took that into consideration when she gave me my cut! If you want a stylist that listens, knows color, and will make you look your best, go see Jessie, she is by far the best stylist I have seen! You won't be disappointed.

I recently went to San Francisco on vacation and I am now wishing I lived there based solely on this hair salon. Hair stylists for me have been one nightmare after another but Notorious for Hair is seriously like finding the holy grail lol. My stylist was Rodney and everything good mentioned about him on citysearch is absolutely TRUE. He really listened to what i wanted and actually took the time to give me a more than perfect haircut. I would most certainly recommend him to anyone and everyone and trust me you will not be disappointed. I am still in shock about the prices ($38 for regulars $28 for first-timers) because I would have thought that a salon with such high standards such as this one would easily be charging twice as much. If you're in the San Francisco area, you shouldn't even have to think twice about where to get your hair done! The only thing that would make me love it more is if it was located in Houston!

I got my hair done by Jessie recently, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! My hair is amazing, i went from pinkish/purplish tips to pretty much the whole thing hot pink. I was a little shocked at first because i wasn't used to seeing myself like that, but afterwards I LOVED IT!!! I get sooooo many compliments on my hair all the time from complete strangers. My boyfriend loved my hair, and all my friends and roomates so I'm very happy with the way Jessie did my hair. I highly reccomend Jessie to anyone wanting to go for a little more daring of a hairstyle or color. Jessie did my hair a few weeks ago, and I've washed it a bunch of times and the color is still very in tact. The color has not even faded so I'm loving my hair 100 percent.

I've been getting my hair cut and styled by Jessie for the last 4 or so years. It has taken me YEARS, numerous run-ins with various "top notch" stylists, and loads of a cash to find someone that could style and care for my hair the way that I wanted it styled and the way it needed to be cared for. But finally, I found her! Jessie always has great funky designs with a modern or even throw-back flare. I have naturally curly/wavy hair and she'll funk up the curls or blow-it out or flat iron it to perfection. I always love to experiment with color - and she is always psyched to create something new but never lets me get too bleach happy because she TRULY cares about the health of my hair. Each and every time I have gotten up from her chair - I've left thrilled and excited to show off my new do. No matter where I go - I ALWAYS get a ton of compliments on my hair. Not only is she an amazing hair artist - she is such an adorable and sweet person - someone that you WANT to talk to; someone that you WILL connect with. I may live 60+ miles from San Fran - but I have NO problem traveling the extra way to get an appointment with Jess. She is the real deal!

I had long curly hair and finally decided to cut it. I went to four different salons before deciding who I was going to entrust with this big change! I went on Citysearch and saw that Kat came recommended for curly hair, so I met her, loved her, and booked an appointment! Not only was she just as excited as me to be cutting all my hair off, but she listened to what I wanted and gave me lots of ideas. I've had my new hairstyle for a month now and I am in love with it. It's hard finding a good hair stylist and I am definitely so lucky to have found Kat!

It was a really bad hair day. I was reminiscing over some old photos and sadly realized that my hairstyle hadn't changed much since I was about 5 years old (I'm now 36!) I called NFH and my hero, Rodney, answered the phone and had a same day appointment available. A Christmas miracle! I gave him complete artistic freedom (with the only caveat being that I didn't want to look like a soccer mom), and he gave me the best haircut and color ever! The change was drastic--he chopped the length and turned me into a saucy red-headed vamp. Plus, I can get it to look "salon" cute in like 5 minutes. Rodney, thank you for saving me!
