I rented an apartment and a garage from BPM for a little over a year. I liked the place, the price was fair, and their maintenance record was so-so. (They would fix things when necessary, but they sure did take their time doing so. That's par for the course, I've found, so I'm not too disappointed in that regard.) However, I have two complaints - one major and one minor. When I left, they required me to steam clean the carpet at my expense, under threat of not receiving my full security deposit back. I couldn't afford to lose my deposit so I went ahead and did so for $100. I didn't know this at the time, but by law carpets must be replaced between tenants. They didn't do so before I moved in, and it's a safe bet they didn't after either. Instead they force the cost onto the outgoing tenant. That's the minor complaint. I had the apartment and a garage under separate leases. When I notified them of my intent to vacate the apartment, I didn't mention the garage. A day or two later I wrote a letter clarifying that I intended to continue leasing the garage. Shortly thereafter I received a letter from their lawyers saying that I would vacate the garage or they would see me in court. I had done nothing to violate either lease, so they had no grounds for legal action. They simply threatened me with litigation hoping that I would not be willing to go to court. They were right. I don't forget threats like that, and will never do business with BPM again. I suggest you don't either.

Pros: Decent apartments.

Cons: Threatened litigation unnecessarily. Management was deceptive and rude.
