i live in the neighborhood and so this is my weeknight bar for pool, pinball, and sharing a pint with friends...it's exactly what a local divey bar should be - great drink specials, super nice and efficient bartenders, and a decent pool table.

I am a big fan of drag shows and have been to most the big ones around SF. Trannyshack and the Monster Show are always fun, but there is FINALLY a new night in SF that is worth going out to (and there isn't even a cover charge)! It's called Addiction and held every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturday at the Expansion Bar and is hosted by 2 relatively new queens in SF, Artemis Chase and Amanda Lay. I was at the opening night this past Saturday (oct 7th) and the theme was Disney Night. It was an absolute riot! The performances ranged from classy ballads to dirty remakes of Disney songs and so much more! They change the theme for every show, so the nights should continue to be fun and fresh. One other thing that I found really refreshing about this party and show was how down to earth and relaxed it was. The hostesses were incredibly friendly and spent time out drinking with the crowd both before and after the show. A very welcome change from the distant performers who spend the whole night hiding in their dressing rooms. The crowd was also incredibly friendly and attitude free. It was a crazy mix of gay, straight, lesbian, trans, and everything else you could think of. I felt like I could bring almost anyone here and they would feel comfortable. So in my opinion this night has everything that it takes to be a great time! Fun entertainment, a friendly crowd, cheap drink specials, and no cover. I will be going back for sure!

since the number one review the bar now has taps. The new owners are repainting and making other cosmetic changes. So far all seems to be working. The regular night lady bartenders are super friendly. Bar also has happy hour.

This bar always reminds me why I love San Francisco. Completely random mix of patrons seems to represent every SF demographic in a great, no attitude atmosphere. Nearly yuppie-free, thank God. (They must feel out-of-place since the well drinks don't cost over eight dollars.) Only bummer is the lack of beer on tap. Overall, my favorite hangout.
Pros: Cheap drinks, Uncrowded, Nice mix of people
Cons: No beer on tap
