Truly Tasty Food
by insideguy
Ever have that restaurant that makes your mouth water every time you think of it? Well, mine is Blue. The food is ridiculously tasty. The calamari is made with a special spicy sauce that makes you feel like a pig because you just cant stop devouring it. When I know I'm in the mood for delicious, tasty, orgasm-inspired, and inducing meals, I go to Blue. Eat there!
- Pros: Delicious and Tasty, isn't that the point of dining?
- Cons: They need more of it!!
Great Custome Service
by mlambert74
What a treat to have such wonderful people in the world. On the evening of Dine for Life '07 (which by the way Blue counts Drinks & Food) my party was not able to meet up with our friend. We had no way of contacting her (she had no cell) so I called the restaurant with the weird request of finding her (on a crazy busy night). The host not only found her but also put her on the phone so we could discuss the family emergency. Never seeming, inconvenienced, put out or bothered!
It is thoughtfulness like this that makes me think we are all in this together.
Coincidently, or not, I ate there the following night and our server had taken that call! He is amazing, personable and gorgeous! :( Totally forgot his name. I will post that later.
Comfort food gets a contemporary twist at this reasonably priced Castro bistro.

In Short
This eatery's prime location and quirky, inexpensive American fare have made it a popular destination. With black-and-chrome furnishings, faux-concrete walls and exposed fixtures, the space evokes an urban warehouse space. The menu offers traditional diner fare with experimental touches, like green salad dressed with a pesto-like vinaigrette, spicy two-beer chili, or chicken potpie held together with a heavy, cheesy bechamel instead of a traditional stew-like sauce.
OK for comfort food

My friends love this place, but I prefer Home for comfort food. The food was good and the service was fine, but I didn't think it was anything special. Good for a weeknight dinner if Home is too crowded.
BEST MAC N CHEESE IN THE CITY!
by megv
Blue has the best mac-n-cheese I have had anywhere here in the city! It is so amazing. The other food is great as well. Good prices, great food!
- Pros: Food, Price

One of the Best of the Castro
by clarkey_d
Since the new owner bought it a month or two ago, the place has simply gotten better. I went there the week before the new owner took over, and it was crud--they were out of six entrees, most of their wine, and the service had visible low-moral. But when I went back (I thought the new management change might make a difference), the place was a-mazing. The food was quick and excellent, the service was perfect and there were delicious specials. They repainted, cleaned, and the staff is the same, which I like. The crew is fun, smart, and intellegent--everyone is great, lots of folks from the south, and have a great knowledge of the menu and the restaurant. There's even still someone who's been working since the beginning of Blue! Just goes to show, I love coming to this place, and the staff loves being there. I love it...
- Pros: Comfort Foods, Service, Area
- Cons: Brunch, Nothing, Else
Good Food and Great Service Found @ Blue
by craigsf
A friend and I stoped at Blue on 8/6 for dinner. A very handsome man with sly grin met us at the door and escorted us to a table. Turns out he didn't work there, but was a friend of one of the staff. It was quite hilarious. Food was hot and tasty. Square meal that hit the spot. I say bring back the 'waiter' who made us laugh, then darted out the door like a fugitive. This is not my first trip to Blue, and I'm happy to say again, it did not dissapoint. Bravo Blue!
- Pros: food, service, friendliness
Well Worth It
by soncoman
Friend and I dined here earlier this week. Simple fair, but very well done. He had the tuna casserole (who serves tuna casserole anymore?!) and I had the chicken. The hit of the evening, however, was the calamari appetizer. We were seated immediately, and served promptly. Server was very attentive, but sitting next to the kitchen may have made that inescapable. Note that you will be walking through the kitchen (and it ain't big) to get to the restroom. A little odd. But a very nice dining experience.
- Pros: Food, Service, Cost
- Cons: , Restroom
Yummy fries
by queengwen
Went on a Sunday afternoon. Felt like a like a diner. No wait, food was delicious (I had the pork chop with balsamic reduction) and the service was good. The fries are perfect - thin, crispy and light. Would come again.
- Pros: Good food, reasonable prices
- Cons: Blah decor
