There's no excuse for the contruction delays
by Bradxxx
There is no excuse for the fact that the Cafe remodelling project has taken so long and has not been completed yet as we move past Gay Pride month into July. It's inexcusable that an establishment so highly visible at Castro and Market would not have the construction completely finished by the beginning of June in time for Gay Pride. Give me a break -- there's fiberglass insulation exposed on the outside of the main balcony! Couldn't you have at least made an effort to clean things up on the outside so it was not such an eyesore?? And please -- don't turn this mismanaged project into something it isn't, by pretending to have some sort of "preview" opening planned for Gay Pride, where you only let 300 people in at once. What a colossal embarrassment to the community! Why don't you just admit that the entire project, for whatever reason, is two months behind schedule?
And by the way, you've completely missed the opportunity to create a rooftop patio. Couldn't you have planned to take advantage of this great space instead of making it just a plain roof? I've been up there -- it really could have been something spectacular.
How many months went by during which no work was being completed in the evening in an effort to wrap this up in time for the Pride Celebration? Was it a cost issue? Were you not willing to pay overtime to the workers? I'm sure the lost revenues during the closure overshadowed that ten times over.
This should be a lesson to other businesses in the community: when you want to do a major remodeling project, look at the way the Cafe project was managed and do the exact opposite so that your project is completed in a timely manner and is not a blight on the community.
Great bar rude staff
by kaylee2326
We ended up at the Cafe after having a bad experance at another bar. Everyone was very friendly, Mixed croud. The drink lines were long but it wasnt bad because everyone mingled with everyone! The only thing bad id have to say about the Cafe was that there was a extreemly rude bartender with curly brunette hair!! Other then that it was a great experance!
Avoid the bitchy curly headed bartender!

I recently brought my Southern GF to the Cafe (Sat. night) to show her where I use to hang out, but unfortunately I had a bad experience with a nasty, curly headed brunette bartender. Perhaps she was having a bad night because she was a total B**** when it came to using the pool table. She was so rude that we left after five minutes. Bummer. Paying twice/giving up my ID to play one game of pool was LAME! And to make matters worse, she was super nasty, rather than making a joke or simply explaining that the rules had changed. Whatever. I won?t be going back there anymore when I visit, nor will I recommend the Cafe to any of my East Coast friends?
- Pros: Spacious!
- Cons: Bad customer service!
DEBAUCHERY!

really citysearch? how can the word h*t be inappropriate? you are a prude city search, i am TRYING to tell my peeps about how much fun i had at the cafe, i could have been a lot more inappropriate, for instance, there was that scene on the pool table with that girl from vegas who put her ton**e in my ***** and told me she wanted to ***** my brains out in the bathroom.
unfortunately, my ocd kicked in and all i could think about was germs. i can't even do it in my own house if the dishes aren't done...seriously.
where was i....oh yes...the cafe...what a blast. we will be back!
- Pros: great company, great music, great time, great great great
- Cons: the bathroom. yuck.
A Castro mainstay for young gay guys and gals in the mood to dance.

In Short
This place packs in a crowd of young, stylish lesbians and their queenier male friends. The music is standard house and hip-pop, but the vibe is just right for a lot of socializing and a little making out. There's also a patio and second-story veranda overlooking Market Street.
Fun, fun, fun!

I love The Cafe, it's always SOOO much fun. it doesn't matter what you are looking for: dancing all night long or hooking up with hot girls... or both! the cafe is your place.
just be aware they are cash only, for the cover and for the drinks.
- Pros: hot ladies, strong drinks, great dancing
- Cons: cash only
Always a FUN Night
by maddengrl83
I go there every Monday religiously. I have been going there for over a month now and every monday was never a dull night. I have met so many people who are now my good friends. I recommend everyone to go gay, lesbian, bisexual, hag, or straight to go there. The drinks and music is always good. Trust me you all should go.
Calling all Cafe-virgins!

I do not visit San Fran as frequently as I did in past years. Regardless, the first place I visit (after unpacking my bags) is The Cafe. The bartenders are always friendly, and terrific at mixing drinks. The view from the balcony as the sun sets and the fog rolls over the mountain tops: PERFECT! This place is deserving of a visit, if you've never been.
Loved it
by mistereric
I was there on a Saturday night and the place became very packed (maybe too packed) around 11. I loved it anyway. There were many cute guys to look at, talk to, and dance with. People can get a little touchy-feely on the dance floor, so just make sure you're ready for that (after a few drinks, you really shouldn't mind!) Dancing was so much fun and I've haven't been to a club with so many cute guys in one place before. There were more guys than ladies, which is fine by me. I will be returning.
- Pros: Young, Good looking guys, Strong Drinks
- Cons: Need more restrooms
