It's great because it is a simple rustic cafe nestled in an ecclectic area.

The new copper top table tops that were recently added have made a beautiful transition into the holiday season. A very realistic fire place has warmed up the interior space wonderfully. The cafe changes with the seasons as every walk of life comes through it's rustic entry. The food is always delicious. The music has a nice flow of worldly and exotic rhythyms. Red umbrellas cover the side walk tables. Non pretentious serving style. Go up to the bar or kitchen window and order, find a table and a server will bring out the food. Every table has it's advantage point. The crowd represents every ethnicity and sexuality. I love it. There is some attitude but it would be boring without. A great place to write a novel or to fall in love. It's perfect! The Christmas decor looks great. Thanks for such a cool chill space. They now serve cocktails and I recommend a Mojito.
- Pros: People watching, food, Mojitos, Ambience, Music,
- Cons: I wish it would stay open later
Best Cafe in Town

This is my favorite cafe. Beautiful patio. They have hard liquor, too. Dog friendly. Food is good, too.
Best Outdoor Patio
by tall1sobay
Whenver I'm in the city this is the place I go to eat and hang out. The patio is a great place to sit and relax wtih a good book, or friends and talk. The high walls keep it more private outside. The coffee is very good. The food is fantiastic and it's a great brunch place.
Wonderful for Breakfast!
by tangotraveller
I love this place for Breakfast. Great frittatas and lovely outdoor seating away from the tourist hordes in North Beach and on the wharf. Take the historic F line and it will drop you right in front of the door. Food is ordered at one counter and Latte's etc. at another.
- Pros: Lovely setting, good food
- Cons: Order at the counter

My girlfriend brought me to cafe flore for my first visit to Castro St. and i loved this place. I had the 100% angus beef hamburger (placed on a nicely seasoned bun) and it was mouth watering from start to finish. My girlfriend ordered the half-chicken and rice plate (roughly $12.50) though a tad on the pricey side was alot of food.
Clientele and location might just be the best attributes, great place to ppl and puppy watch!
- Pros: Food, Location, Ambience
- Cons: Pricey, Bit Crowded
A cool spot......
by regulate703
I live in the Sacramento area, but still go to Cafe Flore whenever I'm in town. It's a cool spot to just got to and hang out, and a lot of times is the last place I go before I head back to Sac. I recommend it to anyone on a nice, cool evening for a cup of coffee. I've never had the food; I tend to go out for a more sophisticated setting for dinner when I'm there, since I don't live in the city, but I'd definitely consider it for breakfast or brunch...It's real cool.
An outdoor setting offers the perfect balance of seclusion and inclusion at this perpetually busy cafe.

The Scene
High wood-and-glass walls and tons of greenery screen this popular outdoor cafe from the nonstop traffic around a busy Castro intersection, but that hasn't stopped Cafe Flore from being jammed at all hours with the see-and-be-seen crowd. Perfect for sunny weekends, or anytime you feel fabulous enough for appreciative stares.
The Food
The front counter dispenses caffeine and a wide selection of cakes and pastries. However, if you need something a little more substantial, a tiny galley-sized kitchen off to the left offers a surprisingly comprehensive menu, from morning fare like eggs with potatoes and crunchy slabs of Acme levain toast to midday treats like a juicy, delicious Niman Ranch hamburger served on focaccia with house-made ketchup. A couple of pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches and specials like roast chicken or sauteed veggies over basmati rice round out the offerings.
fresh ingredients

Cafe Flore is homebase for me. I work close to the cafe and I find myself eating their almost every day. For me it is because of the fresh ingredients. In the Castro it is difficult to find decent food when everything tends to be the same diner grub. The coffee is fantastic as well. The service can sometimes lack emotion, but who cares since it is counter service.
- Pros: food, price, ambiance
Best Place for Coffee
by KIKAHEAD
This is the best place in San Francisco for coffee. There are outdoor tables on a large patio, great food, and great drinks. The cafe has a great breakfast, served until 3PM--try the fruit bowl with spicy yogurt. The service is wonderful, lots of newspapers inside to read, and great people watching. This is a top-notch place to go and great to bring visitors to as well!
- Pros: Service, Food, Outdoor Seating
- Cons: Parking
outdoorsy cafe, always packed
by boysforpele
My favorite cafe in the city! This Castro coffeeshop/restaurant is almost always packed with gay boys at any given hour. The owner had been here for year and usually has a funny joke to share while he makes your drink. The restaurant is amazingly good and serves great soups, salads, and breakfast. The Neiman Ranch hamburger and the chicken over rice is to die for and not to be missed. Grab a book, try a soy chai latte, and soak up the sun.
- Pros: great atmosphere, outdoors, good selection
- Cons: slightly overpriced, crowded, lack of tables
