Good attitude!
by cynthiagair
Unlike so many music stores, the people who work at Streetlights do NOT make customers feel like dumb clucks with bad taste. I have asked about some really lame (my judgement) CDs and have gotten nothing but respectful help. I love the open friendly unrushed atmosphere. They're wonderful about special ordering so even though it's not the biggest store around, I usually buy my music here!
- Pros: good customer svc, easy going 'hood, stock=nice mix
- Cons: not huge selection
Popular indie chain serving up all genres of music in good condition and on the cheap.

The Scene
This busy chain has branches in the Castro and Noe Valley, offering a wide selection of new and used sounds reflecting the needs of their respective neighborhoods. You'll find more dance music and showtunes in the Market Street store, more Latin and hip-hop on 24th Street. With a friendly, informed staff, good prices and a selective buying policy, Streetlight is always a fun place to browse.
The Goods
Streetlight offers a solid general interest music store experience, with varied selections in genres ranging from pop, indie rock, jazz, country western, comedy, oldies and an unusually strong range of international CDs. They carry LPs and CDs, plus many bargain DVDs, videos and laser discs. Staff selections are given a place of pride, over handwritten notes explaining why you've just got to hear them. With customers constantly taking advantage of the great trade-in rates, you never know what nifty rarity will turn up.
