Fabulous, busy and pricey.

Love the place. I've spent thousands in there. My stomach is not a cheap date! Greek food at its best.
- Pros: The food is balanced, authentic and presented well
- Cons: price is high, but you get what you pay for
Usually Fantastic

We usually LOVE everything about this restaurant, they do a fantastic job with the food and the atmosphere is amazing. We went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday and really felt rushed. Our appetizers came out within 5 minutes of ordering and our entrees came the second we put our forks down from the appetizers. We literally could have been in and out of the restaurant with drinks and dessert in 40 minutes. This is the first time we have felt this rushed and I hope it is the last.
- Pros: Great food and Ambience
- Cons: Service was rushed
Outstanding Greek Food!

I'm a big critic when it comes to Greek food...I'm Greek! It's hard to find exceptional Greek food...unless you go to Kokkari! We have tried almost everything on the menu and every single thing has been DELICIOUS! Try the kolokithokeftethes, octapodi, moussaka, lamb chops...they are all wonderful! The waiters are professional, knowledgable and friendly and the atmosphere is cozy, but also lively and upbeat. NOT a boring place at all, but not overly loud and crazy. If you want a more quiet evening ask to sit in the back...away from the bar. This restaurant is a MUST TRY! If you know and appreciate quality cuisine you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
- Pros: Great food, Great Service!
Highly Recommended!

I have dined here many times, both in large and small groups, and I have not been let down yet. Each time the food is amazing and the service is great! Great way to experience Greek food and hospitality! Must end the meal with the galaktoboureko desert!
- Pros: Food, service, ambience
- Cons: Make reservations in advance! Especially for groups.
Brilliant

This might be my favorite restaurant. The brilliant flavors, the cozy ambience, the enormous fireplace, the intelligent/educated/mature staff ... what more could you want!
Over rated and over priced in my opinion
by sallyvjj
Went to this famous Greek resturant and expected tasty food. Maybe it's just me, not a greek food fan, I didn't like the lamb they recommended. The wine list is long and some of them are rediculous pricy. Maybe they are just as good as the price show but I'd pass that.
Really lovely space paired with good food.

After my first ever week in SF, this NYC foodie met some friends here for lunch. It's an enormous place, beautifully decorated - for a minute I thought I was back in Greece (except for the fairly loud noise). We were seated in the lovely back room. The place was jumping for lunch. The food was very tasty. The mezes (taramosalata, tzatziki, melitzanosalata and dolmathes) were excellent. The grilled octopus was some of the softest, butteryest octopus I've ever had. Although we expected sliced lamb but got ground lamb instead, it was spicy and full of nice lamb flavor. My friends seemed to enjoy their avgolemono and spanakotiropita. I spied lots of very tasty looking dishes going by. The meal with tea and 1 wine came to $95. I would certainly return to explore the menu a bit more.
Loud, and unflavored food with bones in my fish
by smandal123
It was my wife's birthday choice and when we were seated right next to the bar it was so loud I could not hear my wife and she kept getting bumped by those at the bar.
We requested to be moved and we were shortly...
We ordered the meatballs (Soutzoukakia) and it was okay, nothing too great, it wasn't too tender as one would have hoped. I ordered the halibut steak (Galeos) and it wasn't temder at all, almost burned on the outside, not flavored in the inside, and also I had bones all in it where I had to use my hands to eat with. My wife's dish, I can't recall, but it was tender and a little better...but for a $75 meal, not worth it at all. We ate at this mexican place the following night and it was 1/6th the price and 10 times better.
Overall, for the place, the price, I rate is 2 stars. Also, my friend from work went there and said he had the same expeirnece and if I told him I was going there he would have suggested another place.
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: poor food quality
Exceptional dining experience

We showed up a bit early and waiting for our table at the bar. We were seated at our exact reservation time which was nice. The entire staff was wonderful, our waitress was great with very good menu and wine suggestions. The building was beautiful and the food was delicious! We ordered several of the appetizers to share and were already stuffed by the time our main courses came but they were all wonderful too. Then our waitress brought us out a compelimentary dessert because she said it was her favorite and we just had to try it. We loved every minute of it and will definitely be back for more!
- Pros: Menu, Service, Food, Dessert, atmosphere
