Fantastic Food - Great Management
by Cucina Mia at Citysearch
Always so much fun, meeting new people from all over the world. Usually a wait, but half the fun giving you the opportunity to talk to people.
The Manager Rick is warm, welcoming and always makes you feel like you're the most important person in the room.
Great addition to the staff! Been going there for 30 years...now it's better than ever!
- Pros: Food is exceptional, Warm and inviting Manager Rick
- Cons: bit of a wait

A Classic
by DFresh at Citysearch
Althought this is one of the oldest SF restaurants, I suggest only order the crab salad or the petrale sole...but it is still worth a visit.
- Pros: the bar and booths
- Cons: the food
Go to Tadish for a radish at the bar but leave for lunch or dinner

My family has been going there for 60 years or so . There was a 45 minute wait, expected and no where to wait, I had prime rib which could only be called poor roast beef in my book , it was tough and had the grizzle going through each of the 3 slices . My sister had curry crab and had so much curry it could have been calimari and you wouldn'y know the difference. Our second waiter was a punk right out of my Mission District days who seemed irritated we were still there for desert and when only one order was placed threw the plate in the middle of the table and even though no one asked threw 4 forks down as well and said "share it" sarcastically. I have had better Prime Rib at "Little Henrys" on Larkin street . Do yourself your pride and your wallet a favor and stay away from this institution .
- Pros: same space
- Cons: everything else
great!

Fresh seafood, history, a bit of brusque
by Ladlestein at Citysearch
Tadich Grill is my kind of place, as its waiters dress and act like New York waiters, serves fresh seafood, and has a history.
The "twins" that aray26 heard remarked upon were surely not the breasts of a well-endowed woman but rather the famous Brown twins - Google them on Wikipedia - as we sat next to them last night, and my girlfriend now has a nice little snapshot of her flanked by these petite San Francisco celebritie lit by the glare of Tadich Grill lamps.
We only had the Tadich Platter - a seafood antipasto with two oysters, two shrimp, a little crab, portions of herring and smoked salmon, anchovies, calamari, tomato, and...avocado (!) - but it was all very, very fresh. At $21.00, it's a very reasonable value.
Tadich Grill is a true San Francisco institution - and has been for 150 years.

Tadich Grill is a true San Francisco institution. It still looks, feels and tastes the same as when I first visited there in the 60s during college, 70s for business, and 80s just for great food. The restaurant reflects the unique fun and historic experience that is San Francisco, drawing heavily on its Gold Rush roots.
It is an eccentric place, that much is true. But this 150-year-old, continuously open restaurant serves some of the best Seafood anywhere. Located in the financial district, Tadich Grill almost always has a line during prime time, takes no reservations, has waiters who some consider abrasive, looks like it is from the past, and is not cheap.
That being said, don?t miss it! There's a good reason it has been around for so long. Its unequalled charm and excellent food keep people coming back decade after decade.
As it was Allyn?s birthday, we each started with a Bloody Mary which was as good as it gets. Their San Francisco sourdough bread is such a treat, that it is served in restaurants all over town. My clam chowder and crab salad was superb, and her smoked trout was terrific.
