Stayed here 10/26-29/2007 PRICE: I booked our room back in August through their website and got the Park and Play package ($199/nt) included Basic room, Parking and Breakfast for 2. Called reservations a few days before to guarantee late arrival and their manager upgraded us to a balcony room. (Business Plan floor) Clean, modern design and large by SF room standards and the most comfortable bed!! Room Service & Minibar are *very* overpriced - but hey its a 4 star hotel!!! Parking rates are now $55/night (in/out if you're guest) but I made sure to get a rate that included parking as we needed a car on this trip. ROOM: Balcony wasn't large, but was a nice touch for some fresh air. In-room safe was much appreciated and soft fluffy towels were great. I hate the smell of Portico bath products, so I brought my own. SERVICE: Evening turn down service was lovely. (Don't forget to tip housekeeping!) Concierge was able to secure us reservations late Friday night to one of SF's best Sushi resturants (Ozumo) with 10min notice. When running late for an appointment we realized we had left our sunglasses in the car. One of the valets ran down to our car, retrieved them & hand delivered them before we left the property on a *very* busy holiday weekend day. Never did make it to breakfast...Able to print out my boarding pass in the lobby before the airport! They have a Car Rental on site (Budget) if you want one at last minute. LOCATION: Hotel is close to all the tourist places w/o being right in the midst of them. Walking distance to shopping/Ferry building (great for a side trip to Sausalito!)/ BART Station/Street Car. 10min cab ride to Fisherman's Wharf/ Haight Ashbury (~$15) OVERALL: For a older, concrete, convention hotel, the Hyatt made a romantic weekend perfect by being polished and professional. I appreciated the service that was promptly there when needed & discreetly disappeared when not.
Pros: Service!!!, location, bed are uber-comfy, secured floors, housekeeping
Cons: Overpriced room service, Parking - if not included in room rate.

The main thing that bugged me about this place is that the website shows a beautiful view of the Ferry Building and the Bay Bridge, but you can't actually SEE any of this from ANY of the rooms in the hotel! It's only visible from the walkways to and from the rooms. As a visitor from out of state, I would have appreciated a more honest approach from the website, since we ended up paying up for a room with a balcony and a view, which mostly consisted of the side of another building. I was also disappointed by the "atrium," which houses like 20 fake ferns. Isn't an atrium supposed to be filled with lush [live] greenery??? Whatever. The rooms were okay, but a little small, and again, the view was less-than-impressive. The location was good for taking the trolley, shopping, and visiting the Saturday Farmers Market at the Ferry Building, but for us, it was too far from the other scenic sites (Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, etc.). Just make sure before you visit San Francisco, you really research where you want to go before booking the hotel. We also saw SO many cute bed and breakfasts everywhere during our visit and would probably stay at one of those next time.
Pros: Close to shopping
Cons: Not really close to that much else, and not very well-appointed.

stayed at this hotel on a recent trip. location. location. location. near union square (shopping), short walk to the bay (fisherman's wharf), easy access to cable cars, etc.

This hotel has a nice bar for mingling after work. I also recently stayed there and was very satisfied with the accommodations. The front desk staff were very nice and the rooms, were pristine, roomy and nice as well. The location is pretty good too. You aren't in Union Square but there is the California St. cable car that picks up right in front of the hotel and can drop you off about a short block or two away from the heart of Union Square.
Pros: Views

Wonderful location, everything that a traveler would need is never further than a cable car ride away. Comfortable rooms and good restaurants located within the hotel.

My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway at Hyatt for my birthday. The location was perfect, and when they heard that it was my birthday, they upgraded us to a larger suite with the view of the bay. It was simply stunning and it was perfect location for us to rediscover our city! Just put your walking shoes and enjoy the best of SF!!!
Pros: Great location, fab view, superb service

As a global business traveler, I have stayed in many hotels. Most are ok. What a terrific surprize to come back to the Hyatt Regency and find all the things I liked still there and all of the rooms all spruced up. The staff was very accomodating. The food and drink good. I slept like a log and the convenience The hotel is still an amazing piece of architecture and seems almost classic. The views of the bay and bay bridge were terrific. I will be back.
Pros: building/room, staff, food and drink

I am from SF and had the priviledge of vacationing at the Hyatt on the 1st of the Year. My intention was to stay one night, however ended up staying three and had a blast. Perfect location, AWESOME design (inside and out) and good value. I especially recommend staying here if you are from out of town. It is near the Financial District which puts you right in the middle of everything.
Pros: Architecture, Value, Location

The financial district has under gone such a fabulous change over the past few years, with the "F" Line, the Ferry Building renovations and so many hot restaurants adding to rennaisance. The Hyatt Regency is one of the best luxury hotels in the city. We recently stayed there and found the new rooms and service were great. Loved the views from the roof top revolving restaurant, Equinox. I also heard they are opening a new restauarnt featuring a steak house style. Would recommend to anyone.
