The last Bay Area spot where people without stock options can stock up on hipster furniture, clothes and home decorations.

Overview
During the week this small lot is home to a bustling produce market, but every Sunday flea market vendors open shop under the concrete archways. Don't be misled by the size of the place--there may not be an endless selection of goods, but at least you won't have to fight chaotic mobs in order to get some attention. These vendors, displaced from the old Sausalito flea market, keep the homey feeling of that flea markets' heyday alive.

Features
For curio collectors there are plenty of tables filled with $3 items like candlesticks, glassware and dishes. The serious shopper should head straight to the furniture vendors who peddle priced-to-move desks, tables and cabinetry at the back of the market. If you're willing to dig through some junk, you may come across treasures such as $1 Japanese woodblock prints or a framed Grateful Dead ticket collection. (December 2000)
