Cute, but overpriced
by missmockingbird
I like to stop into Therapy every so often because I live in the neighborhood and they have some cute clothes. However, the clothing is really trendy and tends towards the not-very-well-made side. Because most of the items are low-quality in construction I think their prices are too high. However, I have bought some cute, quality t-shirts there and would definitely go back just to buy t-shirts. They have a good variety of women's clothing but not a good variety of sizes. Obviously, you can't expect to find size 14 and up at this type of store, but probably 1/2 of the items marked "large" won't fit a size 12. That can be depressing. Some of the employees are very nice and some are snotty. One directed me to a great dress I had not seen before based on the items I had in my hand, but another told me their clothes "really are for smaller women" when I asked for a sweater in a size large. Also, the dressing rooms don't feel private enough for me; they're sort of out in the room, not in a back room. Definitely worth popping in every once in a while if you're in the neighborhood, but not worth driving across town for.
- Pros: lots of variety, some cute items, quality t-shirts
- Cons: most items are poor quality in construction, very limited sizes, over-priced, service can be insulting at times
An eclectic mix of well-priced hipster gifts good enough to give yourself.

In Short
Pink elephant dish towels, ribbon-ready Dirty Girl soap, nifty Paul Frank wallets, chunky jewelry and 1960s Russian poster books--this neighborhood-appropriate gift store in the Mission has something for everyone and even sells the bacon-covered wrapping paper to put it in. A fine selection of clothes and purses from big-name brands and local designers along with shoes for kittens rounds out the browser-friendly shelves.
