Cool place but too loud
by miriya52
Went there for a folk jazz night. Everything about it is nice but the music was too loud. laid-back atmosphere.
More toe-tapping than tonsil hockey happens at this kooky Mission hot spot for live music and dancing.

The Scene
The disco ball and silver streamers scream senior prom, but the sleek art-deco bar and what are probably the highest ceilings of any Mission bar make this club supremely classy. The live performances seem bigger and fancier, thanks to the red velvet curtain and two-tiered stage. Inquisitive patrons may ponder the stuffed deer head, adorned with over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder donations.
The Draw
Just like the eclectic decor, all types frequent the Make-Out. It depends a lot on if it's a night of funk and rare-grooves DJs, soulful indie folk bands or sexy cabaret performers. One night might find an older crowd getting down with a heel-stompin' jamboree; the next, some stiff-necked professionals conservatively step-touching. All drinkers will be impressed by the gargantuan margaritas, bursting with lime flavor (but not too sweet).
Standard Mission Creation

You get just a little bit more than you ask for every time you walk into the Make Out Room. With $2 PBRs on tap and some lively bands on the billboard, this place can rock.
Single mingle
by zoofari
Bartenders are not dressed to kill. A regular neighborhood bar with small dance floor to mingle. The interior design setup has a "crowd you" effect. High ceiling and fair music are what distinguished them from the average.
It's a High School Gym
by crimey
This place will never blow anyone away but it's not a bad place to kick back and have a few drinks. The crowd is not so cool sometimes (think Blondie's rejects) but there are Mission folk there also (the white kind). Thursdays is non-radio hip hop and funk and a bit of dancehall (go when Shortkut supposedly plays there). Saturdays is good latin, afrobeat stuff. Dancefloor never gets packed, maybe b/c it reminds people of their high school gym dances.
- Pros: drinks are strongish, affordable, music
- Cons: the crowd, bathrooms, ambience
