Great happy

by topramen

Also a great place to go hang out with a few friends on weeknights--a much smaller and calmer crowd than on the weekends.

Plus, their happy hour is from 5-9 every weeknight, with $1 off all drinks. It's also a block away from close to two taquerieas, in case you get hungry.

  • Pros: good happy hour, friendly bartenders
  • Cons: crowded on weekends

good for happy hour

by missmockingbird

This is a good bar to go to in the Mission for happy hour, especially on Thursday when the regular bartender is friendly and makes great drinks. They have a photo booth and a pool table if you're into that. I would avoid it like the plague on a weekend night unless you're really into men outnumbering women 5-1, having drinks poured on you by drunk rude customers, and watching rejects from girls-gone-wild videos strut their stuff. Definitely good for happy hour though.

  • Pros: Happy Hour Thursday, good drinks
  • Cons: avoid the weekend crowd at all costs

Wanna Drink..... Don't go to Elbo Room

by urbanfunk

this used to be the best music scene in sf...but that was a long time ago.

dont go to elbo room if you want a drink. it takes 20 minutes to get a drink.

the worst part is the bartenders stink. they do recognize who pulls up to the bar and when. they help customers out of oder....idiots really!

It's a cool spot, it's too bad the bartending is bad and so is the person who picks the live acts now.

Avoid on Weekends - invaded by the bridget and tunnel Friday & Saturday

by myabby11

Elbo room is a great bar and I have consistently ranked this bar as one of my favorites for many years now. It caters to the local mission hipster crowd during the week and it is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink and chat, and enjoy great drink prices which run until 9pm daily. This place is a winner either before dinner or after - stylish interior and it ranks up there as one of my favorite small live music venues, with a great upstairs for live music. don't miss out - check this place out, and avoid it like the plague on a friday or saturday night, as the bridge and tunnel crowd has invaded this place in the last couple years. bridge and tunnel go home - please stay away from local places..

  • Pros: interior style, vibe, location
  • Cons: bridge & tunnel on wkds

Rude bartenders, but the drinks are cheap!

by writerevie

Went there for the first time this weekend, and it was crowded. The drinks were really cheap ($28 for something like 4 beers, one Grey Goose shot, and another mixed drink), but the bartenders could use an attitude adjustment. Crowd was pretty laid-back, non-pretentious.

  • Pros: Cheap drinks
  • Cons: Parking, service, music

This two-tiered Mission gem buzzes with live music.

by Contributor

In Short
Hipsters and 20-something slackers from around town converge at this hangout. The lower level, decorated in mostly black and deep red, walks a fine line between sleek and down-to-earth. A long, narrow bar sits across from a smattering of elevated tables and features a handful of tap brews, in addition to an extensive liquor selection. In the back, the railroad space opens to an ever-popular pool table and another small room, monopolized by a second pool table.

Old Standby

by seanmgibson

For the 11+ years I've been in the City, this place has delivered a consistently solid bar/live music scene. It's like an old lover; I get a twinge thinking of all the good times, and find myself wandering back for comfort now and again...Bottom line: it's one of the standards of the Valencia corridor, from before there was one, that you can always count on. Pool, pinball and a photo booth too!

Negative Review

by gingerrogers

I wrote a negative review awhile back and it was removed!!

Here it goes again.

Avoid if you don't want things thrown at you by bartenders and hearing slurs coming from the bar in your direction.

Best bartenders in the City

by brainy_frog

This place has the best bartenders in the City. They know what they are doing. They make good drinks, fast. Most of the bars int he City have young, hip guys and big-breasted girls tending the bar who don't know how to make a drink and move like turtles. If you want a good drink made by a professional bartender instead of a model and you want it fast, this is the place to go.

  • Pros: good drinks, good bartenders, good music
  • Cons: trendy, crowded
