Ewww

Lots of flavors, yes. Lots of junk added to get the flavors, yes. Almost every ice cream in this joint has a day glo color that screams "I AM FAKE". The flavors are numerous but not satisfying bc again, full of fakeness. If you really want some good mango ice cream, skip the scoops and go for the little freezer on the back wall - there you will find a yummy mango ice cream on a stick. Not too sweet and not too fake...

So incredibly stingy!

by qinghaimolly

I used to love this place before I came in and wanted to sample a couple of different flavors. They only give one sample per person! The friend I was with sampled the cardamom, but wanted to try the green tea, and the server wouldn't let her. She bought a scoop of the green tea and threw it out after three bites, complaining it tasted of cardboard. So disappointing.

  • Pros: convenient
  • Cons: horrible service, inconsistent flavors (cardboard??)

Each flavor is an aquired taste

by vassariggy

From rose to cardamon to saffron almond, there is a myriad of uniquly seasonsed ice creams to try, along with all the classics like chocolate and vanilla. The portions are somewhat small for what you pay, but where else are you going to get such flavors. Definatly worth a try, and if you're really hungry you can get a samosa or other Indian/Pakastani snack as well.

  • Pros: Unique, Good Treat
  • Cons: Slightly overpriced

Creative Ice Cream

by markncooper

This little walk-up joint has all sort of creative ice creams (for example rose pedal ice cream).

I'm also a big fan of getting a few samosas to go ($1/each). Very tasty.

The otherworldly Indian ice cream at this Mission cafe is worth a detour.

by Contributor

The Scene
A vivid mural with two ice cream-toting Indian women overlooks this sliver of a shop. A cross-section of the Inner Mission community passes through for a quick nosh at the handful of cafe tables or a cone on the run.

The Food
Ice cream is the main draw at this no-frills storefront. Familiar flavors like vanilla and mint chocolate chip vie for attention with stellar Subcontinental tastes such as almond saffron and cardamom. Rose is clear and heady on its own, but combined with saffron, it's an over-the-top exercise in excess. India's own spin on ice cream, kulfi, is also available. This conically shaped, hyper-creamy delight is made from condensed milk and garnished with rice noodles and rosewater syrup. Go for the singular pistachio version. For a more substantial meal, there's a solid assortment of snack food, from pea-studded samosas to tangy cholay, a hearty chickpea and tomato stew.

great ice cream

by cedichou

oh the saffran pistachio ice cream, and the rose and

the ginger. It's lighter (less fat and less sugar) than most (don't want to compare, as joe's or mitchell's are splendid in their own rights), but with a flavorful indian twist. I hear Real Ice Cream in the south bay has some comparable flavor. If it's true, you bet I'll check them out too
