Inexpensive and delicious!!
by gradyfritz at Citysearch
Shaken beef and the imperial rolls are all I need to make me happy here. Great place to get a delicious and inexpensive bite to eat. Parking can be a bit of an issue, but there's enough public transportation to solve that issue.
One restaurant with two entrances at this casual and inexpensive destination for classic Vietnamese fare.

In Short
At this trusty Mission standby, diners work through appetizers like the deep-fried Imperial Rolls and chicken and shrimp crepes before settling on mains like the ever-popular tiger prawns served over garlic noodles. Steaming bowls of vegetable pho are a hit with vegetarian customers. When the tables are jam-packed, patrons simply head around the corner to the establishment's sister dining room, which features an identical menu but slightly dressed-down decor and closer proximity to the shared kitchen.
Just ok

I can't believe they don't put pork in their spring rolls! Who doesn't put pork in spring rolls?!
If you are just looking for pho go here, if you want killer seafood don't.
Very missionie crowd.
- Pros: my 2(!) prawns were good
- Cons: where's the pork?
Love this restaurant!

I just recently discovered this restaurant and it is my new favorite for Vietnamese food. The food is very good and inexpensive and service is great. My only disappointment is that they don't deliver.
- Pros: Excellent food, inexpensive , Good service
- Cons: Don't deliver, parking difficult

my wife, who was born and raised in Vietnam, says this is the real thing - great food and reasonable prices - especially at lunch.
Reasonable and authenticish food at a great price

Two of us ate here for $28 including appetizers. The food is good and mostly authentic seeming. The vegetarian entree selection is weak, but the one entree tofu dish is good. Also, there is a huge selection of vegetarian appetizers, which seem to be good. Their take on hot & sour soup and pot stickers is worth trying.
- Pros: Value, Authentic, Tasty
- Cons: Vegetarian entrees, No Parking
Best inexpensive Vietnamese place yet!

I was shown this place by a friend a while ago and was really impressed! I find my self going back anytime I am craving Vietnamese cuisine. I have been to it many times and the food is always good. The price is definitely right! Vietnamese rolls are good, go for the meat ones over the veggie ones. The dish where you make your own rolls is great as well. Great variety of things to put in your rolls. Service is pretty good. Better than you would expect for how little they charge for food. I also recommend their garlic noodles, better than I have had at much more expensive places. If you can, sit at the Valencia street entrance, as it is much nicer than the 16th street one. This place is definitely under rated, give it a try, it is a keeper!
- Pros: food, prices, selection
- Cons: parking
Delicious and Affordable

This little treasure tucked away in the always busy Valencia Street is great place to try delicious and traditional Vietnamese dishes for a great price. Try the crispy Vietnamese crepe with layers of shrimp inside. The imperial rolls are to die for as the outside layer has the perfect level of crispiness while the innards are chock full of flavorful ingredients. In addition, the soup stocks have a refreshingly natural taste as they are made from hours and hours of grinding the meat. For dessert, order the fried ice cream for an interesting conclusion to your meal. P.S: Don't miss out on the Vietnamese coffee that features a creaminess that other cofees can only dream of. The beans are imported from France and cannot be found here.
- Pros: Coffee, Good Food, Inexpensive
- Cons: Difficult Parking, Crowded
So Damn Good!

I don't know how this place hasn't become a huge hit citywide. All of my friends love it. I have never had a bad experience. The food is simply awesome, and almost everything on the menu is under $10. I love the shaken beef, but everything is delicious.
The service is also great, but that's almost to be expected in a smaller restaurant. It's the high-end food at low-end prices that's amazing.
Don't expect high-end decor, but the Valencia location is above average for the Mission. The 16th location is a quicker diner-type locale. But the food comes out of the same kitchen, so you can't go wrong with either.
- Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Great Prices
- Cons: There are only two!
Neighborhood Favorite

When this place first opened they were directly competing with Slanted Door (same menu - better price). I'm happy they have won out! There are two entrances and I prefer seating on the Valencia side. I always get the Shaken Beef (nothing but cubed tasty beef) and the green beans. They have a great lunch special too. Service is friendly. House wine by the carafe is good. I often skip going to new restaurants in the neighborhood (they come and go so quick) in order to be sure I'm satisfied with my meal.
- Pros: Food, Location, Walk In
