Don't remember the food I ate

by newguysfo

Ate here about two months ago, but I've been here before. Can't remember the food I ordered but we were a party of 3 and we all agreed we would return given the opportunity. The ambience is asian, the service is sincere. Can recommend

Interesting and Good

by noodlecat

If you like Thai food, you'll probably like this place but don't think it's the same thing. The combination of spices they use is interesting and different. I think I had the beef salad which was very tasty. Service is good too - and no wait!

A Cambodian Adventure

by activesite

This restaurant offers a very tasty and friendly exposure to Cambodian cuisine. We tried a number of appetizers, meat and veggie dishes and all were superb. Don't miss the iced lemongrass tea - delicious. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Overall, a great experience and value. But don't come here looking for Thai or Vietnamese food. Cambodian food is a cuisine all its own and Angkor Borei does a fine job bringing it to the City.

Outer Mission gem serving simple, satisfying Cambodian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

by Contributor

In Short
Named after the historic city of Angkor, this family-owned restaurant is precious to Outer Mission locals. Authentic Cambodian fare is served among gilded columns, paintings of stone temples and Hindu mythological relics. The menu relies on Southeast Asian staples like aromatic sweet basil, coconut milk and lemongrass. Curries are spiced with chilies and accented with spearmint and cilantro. Fast, friendly service and moderate prices add to the allure of this neighborhood favorite.

Spicy, cheap, good for vegetarians

by dmarwick

Picked this place at random and it turned out to be a gem. We had veggie "mock" meat (red chicken & duck clay pot) and the dishes were fresh and well spiced, the presentation was above average, the staff were well friendly and attentive, and the bill was small. Definitely going back.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly, Spicy

Angkor Borei is nothing special.

by jessew

I was thoroughly unimpressed by Angkor Borei. I would summarize the food as a mixture of mediocre Vietnamese and mediocre Thai food. The service was extremely slow (It took over an hour for our main courses to arrive), and the space is poorly lit.

Fave restaurant in the neighborhood!

by ilovepink

I love love Angkor Borei. The food is a bargain & yummy--curries to die for, hearty soups, nongreasy rolls, everything is delish! Service is super friendly and attentive. Absolutely must try the iced coffee--creamy and strong, sooo good!

  • Pros: Fantastic food, Inexpensive, Great service
  • Cons: Out of the way, Hard to park
