What a find! We were welcomed as if we'd been coming in for years. It's so nice to find a lovely small restaurant in San Francisco, that you can recommend to friends and add to the agenda for future visits.
We had the angel hair special with pesto, tomatoes and mushrooms, the lasagna, and the veal marsala. All were delicious, next time we'll save room for desert!

I'm very disappointed with these reviews, i think it's very unfair, i've known the owners for 25 years. I don't know what these people expect , when they go to Chili's or Chevy's they wait for 45 minutes to an hour and eat garbage. This food is ten times better than Olive Garden, it is homemade, authentic italian food. The prices are fair, with soup or salad included. You can have as much bread as you'd like, unlike other restaurants that charge you for the second basket. It's a free country and everyone has their likings and can go wherever they desire, but do not say things that aren't true. Just because they might've been having a bad day . God Bless You

If you like Italian food, go somewhere else.
This place looks great from the outside... Once you are inside RUN! I have never eaten worse pasta... even at Sbarro. Actually Sbarro would rate really well in comparison, and that is like comparing Chevy's to authentic Mexican food. They used to offer a decent pizza, for take out only, but even that has become something I would not recommend to anyone.
This place does have a certain "something" to it... like "cheesy romantic", but when you are served the dinner salad that was probably plated two days ago, and dressed at 10am, you will over look any ambiance factors.
Oh, and the last time I checked... alfredo didn't have cottage cheese as an ingredient.
I really wish that this place would find a new chef, or management... it could be so perfect.

- Cons: bad food, bad food, bad food.
Precita Park sorely needs a great restaurant, but this is not it!

I live right around the corner from here - so sometimes sheer wishful thinking will tempt me to return. Then I snap out of it and remind myself about the horrible service and barely adequate food. Don't do it!
- Pros: I guess it's kind of cute inside.
- Cons: Horrible service (how do they stay in business?) Just barely okay food.
A Big Disappointment

My husband and I just returned from dinner at Caffe Cozzolino. We are visiting from Texas and chose this restaurant based on the excellent reviews we read on CitySearch. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations.
First of all, parking was very difficult. The restaurant has street parking only. We drove around for awhile before finding the closest available spot, which was about three blocks away up a very steep hill.
Then, we waited for about ten minutes before anyone greeted or offered to seat us. We didn't understand this because the restaurant wasn't very busy.
My husband and I became even more frustrated when it took 25 minutes for our server to bring us our drinks and take our order. She was not friendly and didn't bother to offer any drink refills during the meal. We had to ask for drink refills several times which became annoying.
The house minestrone soup was pretty good; our main entrees were just ok. Nothing memorable. We did enjoy the small but romantic atmosphere of the restaurant. It overlooks a park which is a bonus.
The restaurant wouldn't accept our local entertainment book coupon, even though it was valid. The server was very rude when I asked her about why the restaurant would not accept it.
Overall, my husband and I were disappointed with our experience at Caffe Cozzoline. We don't have plans to return there anytime soon (if ever).

The words "cozy," "comfortable" and "homey" will keep coming up when you visit Caffe Cozzolino. Neither the decor nor the food is fancy but both are warm and welcoming. The calimari comes out hot and crispy -- as it should -- and they present a full menu of tradtional pasta sauces. Recommended as a great neighborhood place, even if it isn't your neighborhood.

Seated at the foot of Bernal Heights, this cozy neighborhood restaurant serves Italian standards.

White tablecloths, candle-lit tables and walls cluttered with framed portraits and Puccini opera posters scream "That's Italian!" Buffed wooden floors, cushy chairs and a wine bar enhance the romantic ambiance. The Neapolitan- and Sicilian-influenced cuisine is reliable, though not spectacular, with dishes like spaghetti with clam sauce, baked lasagna and lime-drenched prawns. The vermicelli with tomatoes, basil and garlic is simple and delicious.

beautiful, hidden little place in the hills the service is wonderful and lovely! The food extraordinarly delicious, i was completly amazed!! The chicken parmigiana is wonderful i recomend this to anyone who loves food!!! The prices were dueable, diffently worth the it!
