great spin on average food...
by stephpoke at Citysearch
I just ate lunch here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Having eaten here for dinner before and being disappointed, I was reluctant to being dragged here by my girlfriend again. I ordered the fish n' chips this time and my girl ordered a panini...expecting the food to be as good as the menu described (sucky), I was so happy to see that the fish n' chips were excellently seasoned....the panini was warm, seasoned to perfection and melted in our mouths...I'm not sure what sauce came on the turkey sandwich, but it was worth getting. The service was also warm, friendly and had great attitude. Whoever the new chef is, keep him/her!!! We'll be back.
- Pros: good lunch food
- Cons: tacky menu
I love this place

Super friendly barman, who is genuinely Irish (and I should know as I am Scottish!), great food, Stella on tap, what more could you ask for. My only regret is that this place used to be at the bottom of our street, but we have moved now and I can't go there as often as I used to. I can still taste the mashed potato - yum.
- Pros: Friendly fast service, great food.
- Cons: Bit pricey
A good cocktail with great entertainment

I love the bartender here. Don't get me wrong; I am not in love the the bartender, I just love his abilities as a mixologist and his hilarious sense of humor. A good cocktail with great entertainment.
Fish & Chips
by lizdee at Citysearch
I have to say this place has some of the best Fish & Chips in the city that I have tried. So good that I have to tell everyone about it! The Liberties is a comfortable place to enjoy a pint and food indoors or outside now that summer has finally arrived.
Hurry up

This place is so good that if you want to enjoy it, do it now because once City College opens there isn't going to be a sit in the house. I really like sitting in the window, watching the world go by with a nice martini in hand. I will just had to wait my turn.
Outside Cafe!
by tjet at Citysearch
I hear rumors of outside seating for food and libations are coming to my favorite neighborhood bar & restaurant; The Liberties. If these rumors are true, I will be spending every sunny afternoon and weekend brunch sitting in the sun and sipping on delishous Bloodymarys and mimosas! I can't wait!
One of my favorite things in life!

One of my favorite things in life is eating the Liberties beer battered Fish & Chips and washing it down with a Guinness. I have had their Fish & Chips more than once and it's consistently TASTY!
Very Satisfied.

I really enjoy this corner neighborhood bar and restaurant. I have been coming here for over a year and it is comfortable, clean and friendly. They have specials on some of the evenings, good music every night and the best cottage pie.
Great 40th Birthday Party
by lambertsuzanne at Citysearch
I booked a 40th Birthday party at Liberties and we all enjoyed the food music and the drinks! The atmosphere was very inviting and i will definately make the Liberties a bar of choice! It was recommended by friends who live in the neighborhood and they love going there for Happy Hour drinks straight from the office. I think i may try "ladies Night" as it sounds like the bartender is a little too hot handle for some!
- Pros: Late Night Food
Don't waste your time or money here!!!
by tomnowar at Citysearch
I read the last review and they are so right. My wife and I were in there the other night and decided that if we want to drink on a thursday, we should order it on wednesday. Slooooooooooow service, really bad. That batender is a moron. Other friends of ours booked a friday night party and I guess 2 other events were booked for the same night so their party had no seats. It was an overpriced nightmare. Skip it folks...
- Cons: Parking, service, price...
Wed. Ladies night is a joke...
by annieknows at Citysearch
I have been going to Liberties for years and while it's never been perfect, I have always been satisfied with good food portions, fair priced drinks, and really good service. The times they are a changin'. Management has drastically raised the prices of both food and drink at the same time service has gone down hill. I was last in there on a Wednesday ("ladies night" ha ha) and it was something out of a Seinfeld episode. The bartender, who I assume is supposed to be attractive to women, was prancing around playing cocky/sexy (think Ricky Martin) yet had the speed and capability of a garden slug. Our dinner came out before our two martinis did and they sucked. At one point we timed him and he shook a cosmo for 4.5 minutes. At $8 plus for a drink, it is an absolute rip, unless of course you're there to laugh at Rico Suave, in which case you'll get your money's worth. You should see how cool this yahoo thinks he is!!! Total schmuck!!!
Anyway, if you want to check this place out, do it on a Monday or Tuesday night when the staff is chill, friendly and down-to-earth. It is overpriced but when the laughs are going around, it is worth it.
