Fresh ingredients and unusual taco and burrito fillings distinguish this longtime Mission taqueria.

In Short
With vibrant orange walls and colorful murals, the ambience is a cut above the prototypical Mission joint. Basic Formica tables and screwed-down chairs are no-frills, but they're spotlessly clean. The clientele ranges from pierced and tattooed Mission hipsters to Latino families. What distinguishes this taqueria from nearby competitors is its expansive selection of authentic fillings rarely seen elsewhere.
Didn't Wash Hands

What I saw, disgusted me! It was around 9:00 PM when I was there.
The guy that was mopping the floor, stopped to take my order. He handled my cash, then proceeded to make my Burrito... All without him so much as even stopping to wash his hands. Then he argued why I cancelled my order and asked for a refund.
Clearly the worse display for proper sanitary practices I've seen. This was over a year ago, and things might have changed, but the repulse of it all still lingers.
San Jose rocks!

Hands down the best al pastor in the city. Good bargain too. I used to live around the corner from the pricier (and overrated) La Taqueria but I would walk right by to go to Taqueria San Jose.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Nice murals
- Cons: Street parking
