True Burrito Excellence
by caffeine47 at Citysearch
The al pastor super burritos here are excellent -- big, lots of meat, high quality ingredients -- reasonably priced ($5), and friendly service. They don't have 50 kinds of salsa, but what they have is well made. I will definitely return.
- Pros: easy parking, inexpensive, good service
- Cons: a little drafty
Burritos made with fresh ingredients
by ginkobibo at Citysearch
They grill the tortillas to warm them. They use fresh avocado. You see them cutting it and scooping it into your burrito. If you want lettuce in your burrito, they chop up a few leaves pulled fresh from the fridge.
Sometimes the beans are on one side and the cheese on the other. Sometimes half the burrito is avocado and the other filled with cilantro. Sometimes the beans have no salt and other times they are salty. Sometimes your "regular" is the size of a "super." Sometimes everything is perfectly balanced and other times you bite into the onion and hot sauce layer. These irregularities might turn off some people but if you're not into mass produce burritos where each ingredient is measured with machine like accuracy, Taqueria San Francisco is the right spot.
I love this hidden little gem!

i recently stumbled upon this place and now it's one of my favorite taquerias anywhere in the city. I'm a huge fan of El Farolito, but I think Taqueria San Francisco might have them beat. I think that since it's not too centrally located, people don't know about it and they're missing out.
New York Times was RIGHT!

I stumbled across Taqueria San Francisco after reading about it in a NY Times article about the Mission District. The articles mentions that burritoeater.com ranked this joint as the #1 taqueria in San Francisco- Boy, where they right!!
I've tried countless taquerias throughout the city... this nestled gem on the corner of 24th/York easily takes home the prize! Take my word- their chicken tortas & chicken burritos are second to none!
- Pros: Best Burritos in SF, Inexpensive, Tranquil
- Cons: Tricky Parking
