Red Devil: You Guys Rock!

I was there last Saturday and, Man: That awas awesome. Cool band, nice people, good drinks. The bartender had a little attitude and it was obvious he needed to get some sleep. Usstair gives you and amazing view of the band and crowd.
- Pros: music, crowd
- Cons: bartender can be more friendly
Live music and movies inside a Russian Hill club with red-and-black gothic decor.

In Short
Something nichey is usually happening at this mid-sized spot--from independent film screenings (Mondays) to live music. Beneath Victorian chandeliers and a leering gargoyle, bartenders serve industrial-strength cocktails, including the Strong Island and the Star F****er (vodka, Rock Star energy drink). A glittering disco ball dangles above an elevated stage, while revelers mingle on the sticky dance floor or relax at tables lining velvet-and-lace-draped windows.
Great neighborhood spot

Love this place for the live music and the unpretentious, friendly vibe. If you haven't caught KRS-One during one of his frequent gigs at the Red Devil, you haven't lived!
Great neighborhood spot, nice staff and cool crowd.
- Pros: good crowd, nice staff, great music
- Cons: a bit small and can get sweaty!
Got character

This is a great place for music and drinks. I've had some great nights here with friends and co-workers. Live music is a great touch, and the interior is dark and cozy. I love the balcony level to where you can sit and watch the crowd below.

Monday Nights

I checked this place out on Memorial Day. I was surprised to see a variety of different bands. The most interesting thing was the independent movies that played in between the different bands. I also enjoyed the local artwork that was displayed against the wall(everything is for sale). I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical about paying a ten dollar cover on a Monday night, but I would definitely come by again.
fun, without the pretense

had a rockin good time to the cover band playing songs like 'love shack', 'hot in here', and 'fight for your right to party'. the interior is comfortable and red. the upstairs is a great perch for people watching, but after a few drinks, you will feel right at home on the dance floor in front of the homely stage.
- Pros: strong island icedtea, relaxed crowd
- Cons: one bathroom, $10 cover
good if you like live music
by slaprun
went there a few times in the middle of the week recently and have dug on some good live bands. not really for the dj set, but if you like a mellow live scene in the week, its a cool place.
- Pros: inexpensive cover, good bands
Love the Monday nights here

Cool place on Monday nights for a weekly event called Viv and a Movie which shows local short films and has live music. Good scene for filmmakers and artists. Fun, mellow crowd and good drinks.
- Pros: artistic event, good music, good films
- Cons: small
