love it

This place speaks for it self. It doesn't get any better with service, ambiance and crowd. One of many places to visit thru the course of ladies night out.
- Pros: classy

the bar was so small and crowded that i felt like i was cloistered in a bathroom with 80 other boring people. plus, the red veers too close to being a gimmick, and as with all gimmicks, a taste is all i needed -- i don't think i'll be going back again.
- Cons: small size
Excellent!

A nice original lounge to have a drink and flirt...
La vie en Red!
Not Seeing Red
by mymeres at Citysearch
After going to different bars Saturday night and getting these tiny little martini glasses, we found Red Room. Boy were we glad, they had ENORMOUS martini glasses and the drinks were made perfectly. The place was packed, so much so that my friend got a drink spilled all over her. It was slightly meat-market-esque but amusing to watch just the same. We had a great time and had a great $9 Belvedere martini!

I went there a couple weeks ago on a sat. night. It is not a large bar but packs em in like it has room to spare. Standing was the only option for most of the patrons. The bar tenders were kept busy but managed remain friendly. The crowd was diverse and dressed up. Drink prices were on the high side. I had a good time but mostly cause i was drunk. I think it would have been a let down otherwise due to the non-interactive crowd that gathered there. For a place that keeps you almost within arms reach of everyone else in the place you would think more people would be talking to one another than just sticking to the crew they came with.
- Pros: Lots of people, No cover, Good bartenders
- Cons: Can't move or sit, Crowd atmosphere, Drink Prices
Singles? Hmmmm
by schwa at Citysearch
The word is out. Used to be a good place to hang and get a little sneaky sneak on. Now, since everyone seems to come to the city and check citysearch first, it has moved down the list as the first place to go. No longer the locals scene it used to be, and the PC way to put it being "no longer my type of crowd". still a good place to get a great martini, and the bartenders are some of the best.
Not for singles or dates
by connoisseur at Citysearch
Not a place for dates - ok for groups. We had a great time catching up and drinking, but it was definitely not the hottest "singles scene" nor a romantic spot. I like the mellow red interior and selection of music, but I wouldn't go for the scene.
- Pros: chill
- Cons: gets crowded
Way downhill
by kevkevkevkev at Citysearch
The Red Room used to be cool, but now that they've tasted a little success, they think they can they give you attitude and serve you overpriced watered down drinks. Don't waste your time or hard-earned cash here - there are plenty of other cool dives in Lower Nob Hill.
Consistently Cool

Great atmosphere, with music to match. Trendy and hip, this place is a winner time and time again. Highly recommended.
Red Meat Room
by eman_resu at Citysearch
Romantic, surely you must jest! The place is simply a meat market. Sure the room is beautiful but the atmoshpere negates the beauty.
- Pros: architecture
- Cons: people, crowded, noisy
