What a hoot!
by sesquialtera at Citysearch
This place was okay, but the salad ritual was hilarious! Spinning around a bowl of iceberg lettuce and tinned beets on ice cubes while sprinkling it with bottled garlic salt...and the results looked like they were being eaten for the second time! The waiter really seemed to enjoy it, although questions posed in the middle of his patter and choreography really seemed to throw him off track. The food was, again, okay. Much better to be had at half the price elsewhere, though. Still, the salad dance was worth the cost of admission. Take a camera, it's priceless! I still laugh my head off thinking about it!
- Pros: Somewhat festive.
- Cons: Could use a few velvet paintings.
Good Prime Rib

The amount of food they serve is "a lot". This is a very good place for group dining and celebration. I don't think it is romantic though. The wait line is always long too.
There is better food in San Francisco
by lyss61 at Citysearch
If you have $35/person (without drinks) to spend, don't go here! It was an interesting experience but the food was only average. I wouldn't go back. Service was good but not genuine. Their wine list is pathetic and incredibly overpriced ($30 for a bottle you can buy at the supermarket for $12). There are much better places to eat in San Francisco. It's a lot of food for you money, but I'd rather go to Houston's for steak than House of Prime Rib.
- Pros: Interesting decor (but could use an update)
- Cons: average food
Mediocre knock-off to Lawry's
by racklecan at Citysearch
My husband and I love prime rib. We live in LA and frequent Lawry's Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. When we stayed in San Francisco, we were so eager to try House of Prime Rib especially because of the many raves we've heard. Honestly, I've never been so disappointed in my life. First of all, the carts, the spinning salad, the Yorkshire pudding all resembled what Lawry's did -- except it fell short in the area of taste. It was just missing something. There isn't the option of any other accompaniments besides creamed spinach and potato. I'll give them props for their corn bread -- at least that was original. Otherwise... it's just a bad copy-cat.
- Pros: Nice corn bread
- Cons: Loud, simply not as good as Lawry's

What would you expect from a restaurant called House Of Prime Rib? That's right, prime rib. And House Of Prime Rib delivers huge servings of delicous prime rib. The restaurant is a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for, the food is great and the service is really good. One warning, though - everyone at your table better like prime rib because this place doesn't offer much else. I believe the only other menu item was a fish item which I did not see on one table in the dining room.
- Pros: Great Prime Rib, Very Good Service
- Cons: Nothing but prime rib, no parking

Dining here inspired me to write my first review. The martini's and bartender were good (the shaker on the side is a nice addition) and the service was decent. However, the food was not. What a waste of money!! First off, who on earth needs that much food; what a waste when there are a few homeless and hungry men right outside. All of the sides were edible but nothing special at all, and the meat was like something you could get at Sizzler. Bobo's or Harris' nearby are MUCH MUCH better choices...next time I'll do a walk in at one of those establishments and wait the hour rather than take a reservation here.
Good Prime Rib

If you like Prime Rib, a good choice for the food. Don't go for a relaxing dinner though. Restaurant is crowded and noisy. Recent visit was ruined by a very large, very noisy, birthday party group seated right in the center of the dining room. Table conversation was impossible over the noise generated by this party.
Service was OK, not great.
Good food, BAD SERVICE
by aaronchu at Citysearch
I've been there many times (>10). The reservation-taker always answers your questions with a "you're bothering me" attitude. And despite your reservations for 8pm, you probably won't be seated until 8:45pm.
The waiter always treats you like a subordinate. And on my last visit, they sang Happy Birthday to the wrong person, even though they recieved very clear instructions on whose birthday it was!
Go there once to experience the food, if you really want to. But you'll see why I'm not going back. Outback has very good prime rib for a lot less $, but a lot better service.
- Pros: prime rib, of course!
- Cons: BAD BAD SERVICE, expensive, long wait

Way overated the prime rib was inconsistent
we had a party of 10, some orders were good others were ok the salad was bad. seemed like a 10 year old kid made up the dressing and forgot to add something. the spinach seemed like something the owner came up with to fill up space on the plate.
- Pros: portions, clean forks
- Cons: taste, expensive, no room
