Changing of the Guard...rating will update

A few years ago, Pasha was not a hospitable place for entertainment (I speak from personal experience and conversations with many, many frustrated colleagues). I am interested in seeing how the new management handles the business and at what level the music, dance, food, and service stabalize.
It was a celebration!

I took my sister for her birthday celebration there.... we had a blast. We tried the sampler platter and were greeated with large portions. The wine selection was decent. Prices a little on the high side but it was a good experience overall because of the entertainment. Belly dances, and good food.
- Pros: Belly dancers
- Cons: Make reservations
DON'T EVER GO HERE
by sgarsha at Citysearch
We walked into Pasha for a birthday party on a Friday night at 9p. It's never a good sign when a place is empty at a time that should be at its peak.
The music was so loud we could barely hear each other speak. Additionally, the music was not good. Then, they brought out a 50 year-old overweight belly dancer to entertain the crowd. Trust me, there is nothing amusing about it unless you need a good topic to make jokes about.
Finally, the food was atrocious. We ordered the tasting menu, which was skeptical to begin. $50 is a decent chunk of change for food alone in any restaurant. They brought out some soup, which was the best part of the meal. Next, came a plate of four appetizers. There was a cold spinach salad that was nasty. A beet and goat cheese salad that made me gag. And two other vegetable dishes that were drowned in olive oil.
After the singer of the band made us get up and dance against our will, a few of us made a dash to the bathroom to hide. After about 30 minutes of listening to crappy music, the main course came out. There was some beef on a bone and some kebabs over rice. The beef was tender, but fatty and did not taste good. All the kebabs were dry and nasty. Because we were eating so little, most of us could only think about the pizza we were going to get around the corner afterwards.
Once dinner was over, I stepped outside to have a rare cigarette to get the taste out of my mouth. Then, we went back in for dessert. At this point, we were all really turned off by the food and dessert did not change our minds. There were some dry flaky pastries and another thing that looked like General Tso's chicken.
At no point during the meal did the waiter explain what we were eating or what would be served. Granted, if he tried we probably could not have heard him because of the loud crappy music.
If you're looking for overpriced food, poor service, loud music that stinks, and dirty tables, then Pasha is for you.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Food, service, music, dancers, over priced
This is to all the skeptics

First time I was in Pasha it was on my 18th b-day which was 11 years ago. It was the best b-day I?ve ever had because I got lots of attention. My dad was handicapped at that time and he was well accommodated. The food, staff, service and entertainment were terrific. I kept going to Pasha on several occasions through all these years. If anyone comes to town I always take them to Pasha and I receive nothing but positive feedback. The previous owner kept the entertainment going well, he always kept attention on his guests and his ways of entertainment were very unique. I have dropped in once to the Pasha restaurant a week ago and noticed the bar change. I think it?s a great modern change. I myself love this style because when my husband and I go out we usually sit at a bar. Finally there is a chance to sit at a bar at a great restaurant instead of your old Chevy?s like facility, which is great, but it gets too old. I agree on one thing that the food is a bit pricy, but I can?t agree on bad taste. The food is amazing and I can?t wait to try some items from the new menu. The new menu contains very reasonable prices. You can?t expect to get Burger King prices for the entertainment, exotic food and amazing settings. I?ve met the new owner and she expressed to me how passionate she was to accommodate her guests and make them feel very welcome. I?m sure that if there is anything that you like or don?t like you can take up with the owner and they will always take it into consideration. I plan to visit and eat the new food at Pasha in the couple of weeks and I plan to write another review according to my experience.
- Pros: Bar change, new menu
WORST SERVICE EVER - NEW MANAGEMENT NOT AT ALL GOOD
by pkhona at Citysearch
New management's service falls drastically below standards. I would rate sub-way fast food chain to offer better service.
We have previously eaten at this place with old management and they were very particular about the client's needs. However yesterday after long time we decided to try the restaurant again with some of our friends visiting from canada. We made reservation for 8.45 p.m. saturday night and drove about 45 miles to reach to the restaurant on time.
When we were about to give the car for valet, the host arrived and said we will have to vacat the table by 10.00 p.m. if we decide to dine!!! I asked why is that and he said there is DJ program and you cannot sit in that !! I asked is it a private party, he said no - its a public event.
I asked him why this not told to us when we made the reservation on the phone!!! He said he was surprised but to dine to today we will have to wrap up by 10.00 and he was sorry for that.
Now on an average this restaurant costs about $75/person. If he expects us to leave within an hour of arriving at the restaurant - then the host is either extremely stupid or doesn't know how to do business.
In any cast I would highly recommend to AVOID this restaurant - spend that quality dollars in another restaurant where service means service and not for $75 not to treat you like a fast food joint
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COST !!!!!!!!
- Pros: Old management was better - good ambience, good service and good food
- Cons: Bad service, totally un-cordinated!!
New Ownership

I am the new owner of Pasha and I wanted to let all the posters know that our menu is new and improved, that we have added a bar menu for late dining and that the lounge has had a face lift. I encourage everyone to come a give us a chance to impress you with our friendly staff and great food. We also have live music and belly dancing most nights as a bonus. Our food is Moroccan with California Cuisine influence. We want everyone to come and experience the new Pasha. Ask for Zouhair when you are there and tell us what you think.
Thank you for your support
Shady operation and extremely overpriced food
by kelljames at Citysearch
I was part of a 30th birthday group at Pasha this weekend and we each ended up paying $103 per person (!!!!!) for meager portions, basically tasteless food, and poor service. Granted, we did order some bottles of wine for the group, but the food was not sufficient for the $50 we each were forced to pay for the set menu they serve you (no options offered) for large groups.
My friend who made the reservation was never told that we wouldn't be able to order off of the menu -- she was only told this once we arrived. We weren't too happy to hear this, but we were even LESS happy to hear at the end of our meal that we were being charged for 19 people dining, not the 17 people we had in our party. Two people weren't able to make it to dinner at the last minute, but Pasha told us they had to charge us $50 each for them anyway...and they wouldn't back down on this!!! This was especially ridiculous considering that they were making about $2,000 off of us! I'm CERTAIN that they didn't give us enough food for 19 people, either. Speaking of the food, it was just average at best. It was especially upsetting to the girl celebrating her birthday that her friends were forced to fork over $103 each for such a bland meal. As for the decor and ambiance, sure...it's well-decorated and the music and entertainment is a nice touch (even though the belly dancer is a bit awkwardly pushy at times)...but I don't believe in paying good money for just ambiance. The bottom line is that you dine out to get good food, and the more you pay, the better you expect the food to be -- that is not the case at Pasha.
- Pros: Decor
- Cons: Bland food, portion size, overpriced food, management, customer service
New Owner - Very Unorganized mess!!!!
by hanslo at Citysearch
Took my family for a nightmare of a dinner. I went to Pasha with my wife and kids many times before, It is not the same anymore. All the beauty of the interior is gone, along with the ambiance and romance.
Large belly dancers, not so great food, overpriced, unorganized and bad service...bring the old owner back
to teach these people how to run a restaurant before they ruin it!
- Cons: Sorry this place is so badly managed
It was better before.

Why fix something when it wasn't broke asked the goat?
For 20 something years Pasha has been a thriving restaurant in SF
I ate at Pasha for years, Sorry to hear the original owners retired.
A new menu (strange) and not so same decor. Terrible wine list (BYOB).
The food was OK, the atmosphere was very dark & gloomy.
I would have to honestly say It was better before, a certain class has left the establishment.
This place is AMAZING!

I celebrated my Birthday at Pasha last weekend and we had the BEST time ever. I pre-paid the Sultan Feast
along with a bunch of exotic wines and fancy drinks. The food was incredible and HUGE, I highly
recommend the 4 course meal for larger groups. The full bar came in handy - Lots of fancy strong
drinks kept coming :))))) The live music was intoxicating and beautiful. A beautiful belly dancer
performed along with a huge audience participation (super fun). My whole 40 person goup got up and
danced the night awey. All of my friends were highly impressed and the compliments keep coming in:
For sure the BEST BIRTHDAY ever - I Love this place .
Thank You to the wonderful staff and Valet guys for all there hard work and help!!!
A memorable experience to charish for a long time.
- Pros: The best Middle Eastern Restaurant in San Francisco!
