Still the best P O T Stickers in the US and I've eaten at 100's of Chinese Restaurants all over the World
by dbomi
Awesome Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs !! Decent number of good to great tasting dishes that are pretty cheap. If you live in the city then maybe you can take the nearby bus or a cab or something to get here. However, parking in the general area is always a major pain the butt. Place is usually busy or very busy and there is always a lot of take-out activity. Been going here for over 10 years now and hope that things
continue to stay just the same. Any restaurant that can create 2 of my favorite tasting chinese dishes of all time and keeps me coming back for so long is worth a try. Check it out...... By the way citysearch don't sensor legitimate words and force them to be edited out up front (e.g. P O T) because you think they aren't appropriate. Accept the posting and review it for content. There are many appropriate uses of this word that you rejected such as the famous Clay P O T dishes or P O T Stickers.
- Pros: Many dishes, Low Cost, Family Business, Longevity, Consistant Quality
- Cons: Parking
Solid Chinese food in Pac Heights
by howudoinsf
Gourmet Carousel is a casual family restaurant that serves up good Cantonese chinese food at a great price! Most lunch riceplates are $4-$6 and are surprisingly large. I've tried the mongolian beef, flounder/greens, roast duck and bbq pork, scrambled egg w/beef and all were above average. This place is typically very busy but service is efficient, they get you in and out quickly. Decor is not much to speak of but at these prices, who can complain? For a tasty and filling meal, take a ride on the Gourmet Carousel sometime...
- Pros: Inexpensive
Good fish; other stuff so-so
by tripleboston
We got 3 dishes, including a $17 fish plate (it was a whole fish) and the total came out to $50. Other vegetarian dishes were so-so. Go there for good fresh fish. Not sure about the other things.
- Pros: Seafood
- Cons: Vegetarian dishes
Solid, cheap Chinese food
by lost_sage
You would be surprised how good Carousel's food is given the cheap prices. But you can stuff yourself silly with very good Chinese food here and not break the bank at all!
My personal favorite has always been the steak cubes, but they do everything from fish to squids to mongolian beef to sesame chicken very well. As good a take-out place as it is a sit-down joint.
- Pros: Reasonable prices, Solid food
- Cons: Table service spotty
Best Chinese food in Pacific Heights
by sk_chan
This place is great for budget diners. Everything on
the menu is fresh and inexpensive. Braised Tofu and their clay pots are tasty. The lunch menu is very good too. Beef with Bok Choy over Rice for $4. A Mailman's hangout.
- Pros: Cheap, Tasty, Fresh
- Cons: Tough Parking
