Atelier des Modistes is truly a gem. I tried on gowns from all of the top bridal salons on Maiden Lane, and designer gowns carried at Neiman Marcus. By far and way the quality of the dresses that Suzanne makes is superior to all of the designer gowns. In addition, the premium designer gowns are generic and made in bulk. In contrast, the gowns at Atelier des Modistes are beyond imagination. Their designs are stunning, varied, and flattering. The craftmanship and quality of the dresses are outstanding. Suzanne is a true expert in her field as each dress is unique and varied -- every time I visit the store there are more dresses -- each unique and unlike any of their predecessors. The variance in design makes these dresses truly one of a kind. You can tell that each dress is made with great care and attention to detail, and Sue's pride in her work clearly show through. The shop itself is a true delight -- and dress fittings are a joy! Atelier des Modistes is a definite must see for every bride to be!

My experience in buying a dress from Suzanne Hanley at Atelier des Modistes was nothing but wonderful. From the moment of entering her magical studio I knew I would have her make my dress. I had been planning on finding a "non-wedding dress" dress for my ceremony, something off-the-rack, maybe not even white. But after I'd visited a number of stores looking and looking and getting very discouraged I found Atelier des Modistes. In one try, Suzanne pulled something from the back of her store, and it was as if she'd read my mind. She knew exactly what I wanted. She even encouraged me to choose my own fabric if I wanted. I am a check-it-off-the-list girl. So the "process" of having a dress made for me, meaning several fittings and decision making was the only thing I worried about (ya know, the "time thing")...well, it was the BEST experience...I got to really ENJOY the PROCESS of being engaged, get really excited about my wedding, and sink into the joy of creating a beautiful day for myself--all while Suzanne was making a truly stunning gown just for me. My fitting days were days I really looked forward to! Suzanne is meticulous, talented, and joyful. She was a pleasure to get to know, and she has an exceptional skill at knowing what works and doesn't and she is very honest about what looks good and what doesn't. You know you will have a dress that is perfect and looks the very best it can and shows off all of your best features. She is a magician.

This place is amazing. Both Suzanne and her staff are so welcoming. They made me feel comfortable from the beginning and made the entire experience of buying a wedding dress a highlight of the planning process. The dress was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. She designs dresses of exceptional quality and style.

I made an appointment with Atelier Des Modistes not knowing what to expect. When I first called, the associate I spoke to was wonderfully sweet and asked me what my price range was. I consider this a smart move especially when you are a bride on a budget. Once my Maid of Honor and I walked in, the owner Suzanne greeted us with a smile and knew who I was right away! I was immediately assisted when looking for my dress. I absolutely loved being there due to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere and no pressure attitude. They were really working for you and not for themselves kind of attitude helped lift any anxiety I had about any purchases I were or were not to make. Because I had gone in during a sample sale their prices were extremely affordable considering their Italian Silk Satin Fabric they used on the particular pieces that I was looking at. All Suzanne's work is made and designed by her in shop! Gorgeous pieces well worth aweing over! Suzanne and her staff make you feel comnfortable and at home! You can be as silly as you like and they will join you! Very fun atmosphere, if I could do it all over again I would! One of a kind styles at a one of a kind store! Thank you Atelier Des Modistes!!

I stumbled upon this amazing studio just walking up Hyde and decided to go in. I was lucky to meet the owner, Suzanne Hanley, and was more than impressed with her ability to see what would look good on me, even with what I was wearing. Her dresses are made with the most amazing details and the best fabrics. Right now they have a dress in the window made with REAL SAPPHIRES. It is just breathtaking. If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime dress, she is hands down the best designer I have ever seen.

This place is amazing. Susan is so kind and patient and will give you the dress of your dreams...not something that your can find in a magazine. Check her out and you will not be dissapointed.

If you want something unique, and something dependable, Suzanne is for you. She is such a great woman and will take care of you. Go see the store!
