I read the negative review about this salon and decided to share my positive experience. I was there for a custom highlight and hair cut one day. When I decided I wanted the color changed after it was completed, I was immediately attended to with no complaint from the staff. Since I was there longer than the usual time it takes to do a highlight, I was politely offerred food AND beverages. They have a coffee/ juice bar and often have snacks on the same table. The head colorist even offered me lunch when I was there! Now thats what I call service! In addition, after many disappointing hair cuts from fancy and mediocre salons, I happened upon Hope who is a premier stylist at Gina Khan. I FINALLY had a hair cut that was FABULOUS!!!! AND it didn't take an hour to cut my hair!! AMAZING!!! When you have a professional who knows what they are doing thats how it shoud be. Hope is an incredible stylist who will make you look the best you can. She is contracted with Loreal and does many shows, including runway etc. I HIGHLY recommend her for your next hair experience! And to top it off she has a great personality and is down to earth, not like the usual uppity salon types you find at premier salons. The rest of the staff is also very friendly. Book in advance because her appointments fill quickly!
Pros: Professional experienced stylists, friendly staff, prompt service
Cons: spendy but worth it

hi, our mother used to work at this salon when it was previously owned by Yosh. It was amazing, always busy and the people are great. You got really good cuts and color and well worth the price. We've just read some previous reviews, and i'm telling you, do not listen to these people that say they were bad. All the workers are amazing and good friends, they do a fabulous job, and are NEVER snobby. Gina is great too, and I don't see how you these people can give such terrible reviews. Oh and whoever wrote that article that never writes articles. Yeah news flash for you, if you're late anywhere, people are going to be a little mad because you scheduled your appointment and hair dressers have a lot of people to fit into one day. So don't write reviews again because you are wrong. This information comes from two girls whose mother used to work there and is a fabulous hair dresser. Yosh For Hair is a fabulous place to go, and you all should go for a conseltation today. :]
Pros: Great Ambience, Great people, Great everything!
Cons: there are none

PLEASE READ SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO YOU! I have been a customer at the former Yosh for years. Because of this, I "stuck" with them after Gina Khan purchased the salon. In the past couple of years, the quality has become alarmingly low & I have been SHOCKED BY THEIR RUDE SERVICE!! Here are a few examples: -- I was scheduled for a cut/color & after they finished my color they told me the person who was going to cut my hair was out sick...I WAITED FOR HOURS WITH WET HAIR & THEY DIDN'T EVEN OFFER ANY COMPENSATION WHATSOEVER. --On another occasion, the colorist "made a mistake" and FORGOT TO HIGHLIGHT AN ENTIRE SECTION OF MY HAIR & there was a round circle on the back of my head. I noticed this once my hair was cut & dried. There was no way I was going to go out looking that way! The colorist corrected it but DIDN'T OFFER TO DRY MY HAIR AFTER I PAID FOR A CUT/COLOR/BLOW-DRY!! The whole procedure took hours & no compensation was offered whatsoever!! And, of course, I was stuck w/ a pretty huge parking fee at the Sutter/Stockton garage. --I was less than ten minutes late to an appointment because I missed the Muni (figured I wouldn't risk huge parking fees if I got stuck there again) & was literally out of breath once I arrived at the salon after running to get there. I told the stylist that I wanted to grab a glass of their iced tea & THE STYLIST YELLED AT ME FOR BEING TEN MINUTES LATE & SAID I COULDN'T HAVE ANY TEA & THAT SHE DIDN'T HAVE TIME LEFT TO DO MY HAIR! The place got a good name when it was owned by Yosh & has become a bit of a "factory." Just try calling them. Even try during a time the phone shouldn't be busy, like the middle of the morning on a weekday...guaranteed, they'll put you on hold & they won't be friendly once they get around to your call. I've never written an online review about anything before, but have been so upset with this place, I felt I needed to let people know. I really hope this information helps people! :)
Pros: None
Cons: Avoid gonig here

WOW!!! This place can get jammed packed. The place is a bit crowded and busy. But just as long as I get accomodated and my service is done perfect, I'm all for this salon. I've been coming here for a little over a year. I see Melinda for cuts and Tiffany for color. I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE THEM!!!! See these ladies if you do ever want a great cut and/or color.
Pros: Knowledgeable in products and service
Cons: Busy

This place is terrible - Stay away - there are far too many great plans to have your hair done in SF. These people really gave me bad haircuts and not good color. And color doens't even come with a blow-out - ridiculous! Not to mention the staff is way snobby and aloof - like they're doing me the favor rather than ME PAYING THEM. I'm telling you ... you don't want to go here.
Cons: rude help, crowded, noisy

How anyone can possibly not enjoy their experience at Gina Khan's Salon is beyond comprehension! You walk into a stylish decor and ready snacks and beverages, a friendly staff is available to take care of your every need, you can even get manicures and pedicures there now. I myself have been here for two thermal reconditionings to straighten my out of control curly hair - and could not be more pleased with the results. I feel welcome and well treated for the whole 8 hours (thats the length of the procedure for the thickness and lenth of my hair!!!) - how many places can you sit for 8 hours and be perfectly comfortable and well looked after??? There is no place I would trust for a thermal straightening other than Gina Khan's - no salon experience is complete witout a visit here!!
Pros: Atmosphere, Skilled Stylists, Great Service

I usually don't waste my time writing reviews, however when I jumped on to grab my salons # and saw a bad review had popped up... I had to disagree!!! I have referred many friends to this salon because I have found that they provide excellent service at a great price. I go to Isabella for color and she has taken me from Dark Brown to Blonde w/o damaging my hair and turning it orange. Ellie is also great for cuts....she does awesome blowouts. I am very picky and have tried many places in the past...this salon and Ellie and Isabella are the best in SF!!!

my natural hair color is dark brown. i wanted to go lighter so i went to a salon and the colorist made my hair ORANGE with more orange highlights. i hated the way it looked. so a friend recommended isabella at yosh for hair. the first time she colored my hair she was very cautious as to not damage it, yet the result was a big improvement. the next time i went in the color was exactly what i wanted in the first place. i was thrilled.
Pros: highly skilled
Cons: busy

I have had my hair cut here for over 20 years. I arrive feeling like an old bag and leave feeling I should be on the cover of Vogue because my straight hair now has movement, shape, style and glamor. My stylist does fresh new styles for me at my request. My daughter gets her hair colored a different color every 6 weeks because she loves change. The color job looks natural and glossy, not flat, dull and limp as elsewhere. Gina Khan has got to be THE premier colorists in SF. having taught so many in SF, Tokyo, Paris and around the US. Another bonus for me is seeing celebrities from the movies, sports and theatre. The salon is beautiful with fresh flowers, free beverages and client appreciation days. I feel relaxed and welcome there. If you love yourself you belong in this salon.
Pros: Stylish cuts, Creative, Do bridal parties
Cons: costly but worth it

What an incredible place. First, the service is amazing and feels like a 5-star resort. Everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel special. Second, the quality of their services is incredible. I've had great hair cuts/styles and have been going now for about 2 years. I've had several friends who have gone to Yosh for over 5 years and they refuse to go anywhere else. Finally, they truly have the latest and best technology and products -- I heard that their owner gets invited to attend international conferences/events to teach hair styling/coloring classes! Great place.
Pros: Best Salon, High Quality, Great Service
