Best in the City!

by sfoceangirl26

Where do I start? I found Dipietro Todd Salon after I had 2 of the most horrific hair experiences of my life in San Francisco. I am new to the city and after almost giving up I read about Dipietro Todd in Elle Magazine. The article was featuring outstanding colorists for brunettes, specifically Heather from Dipietro Todd. I immediately booked an appointment. First off the salon is clean, modern and has a great vibe. Heather took the time to talk to me before my appointment, consider my goals and consider what would look best. She was genuine, friendly and I felt comfortable and confident in her ideas. Thanks to her, I now have the most gorgeous, deliciously chocolate hair in the world. I especially appreciated her taking to heart that I could not afford to spend $$$ on color and highlights, so she used a technique that gave me the same effect without the extra cost and process. I also set up an appointment with Kohl to get my hair cut. She is AMAZING. She and Heather consulted before starting my services so they could achieve the best over all look. Kohl was a blast and it was refreshing to meet someone who didn't want to chop off all my long hair. On top of it all her assistant took the time to blow-out and curl my hair for free! I left looking and feeling like a movie star! They may charge more than the average san francisco hippie salon, but it is worth every single penny. If you want a serious hair make-over go see Heather and Kohl. The BEST!

  • Pros: Best services, highly trained staff, focused and fantasic, centrally located
  • Cons: centrally located - union square is a zoo on weekends!

Inconsistent work @ diPietro Todd

by summer89

Good atmosphere. Lots of room, no crowding, lots of light and windows. The person who shampoos understands this is a real head and not a practice plastic head. Gently washes your hair.

Colorist: Have had my highlights done there twice and each time had to go back for a redo!!!! At $270 dollars and 2/1/2 hours of processing time to have to go back is totally unacceptable!!!

What is the problem???? I'd go else where if I knew who to go to but in San Francisco there the talent pool is slim.

Hair cut: Had 3 cuts by same person. Liked the cut on the first 2. The third cut I felt I was now being taken for granted and wasn't very good. Found a new stylist and it was superb. Hopefully it will continue to be superb.

Best stylist!

by jennb_r

Alright, I never in a million years thought I would pay over $100 for a cut, but Gino at the Post St salon is phenomenal! a rock star, a master at what he does. I booked an appointment with him when I had long, boring hair and he did this great cut paying attention to my request for soft layers and the angle at which it skimmed my shoulders. I was so impressed with the time he took and his honesty that I only trusted him for a much more dramatic above-the-chin bob, which is super-cute and I love, love, love!

  • Pros: pricey, but worth the skill

Shelby is the best!

by brandyalexandrea

I have lived in the bay area for a little under two years now. Going from salon to salon hoping to find somone who was good and wasn't going to break the bank. However it's not really possible. Well until now. On mondays they use models, I thought I would give it a shot. Why not. My hair looked BEAUTIFUL. The color was perfect! I had just messed up my hair badly by trying to color it very dark. I was a blonde, and she fixed it completely. It looks natural, beautiful and the color lasted forever! Best high-lights I've had in years. I can't wait until she works there full time, because I will have no problem paying full price because she's amazing!

  • Pros: high lights, attitude, friendly
  • Cons: parking!!!

Michael Ryan is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

by vana31198

I have been getting my highlights done by Michael for years, and have never been dissapointed. The man is a GENIOUS!!! I love my hair every time! He does an amazing job, and I leave feeling like a million bucks every time. If you are looking for a person to do your highlights, go to him, you will not regret it. My highlights are beautiful and so natural looking. People I work with are surprised when I say that this is not my natural color, they just figured I was a natural blonde. I LOVE the work Michael does and wouldn't trade him for the world!!!

  • Pros: Professional, Highly skilled, Good atmnosphere

Smoke and Mirrors

by roshanmarie

After searching for a colorist and stylist for what has seemed like too long.........I found Christine (colorist-Mill Valley) and Christa (stylist-Post/mill valley). Their skill and technique surpassed all my expectations. From consultation to the final "do" I felt like they both listened, communicated and translated their vision with mine. You can pay to be a model and whine about the results or find the real deal on the floor and get what you want.

  • Pros: Professional, communicative, experienced

Cost translates to skill

by moonseal

I paid full price and got a color specialist from this salon (Monica at Post Street) who knew what she was doing. My hair looks fantastic and that translates to elevated self-esteem. It's worth every cent. If you're willing to pay less and see a student, it's risky. As a faux finish artist myself, I can say that as my skill increased, my prices increased. What that looks like in hair is color that accentuates my skin tone, looks natural, and is easy to touch-up later. I recommend spending the extra cash and getting it done right so that you can move through the world with more confidence.

  • Pros: Exact color, Natural look, Professionalism
  • Cons: Cost

Horrible experience!

by erin9

It was a horrific experience. I felt as if the person that was doing my hair was rude and close minded. When I told her what I had invisioned she was very impatient with my my idea. Then when I told her I usually have a girl that I go to,........ her mood instantley changed. She did a horrible job (my hair was done as if I went and bought a box at Target and did it myself) and left me sitting there like I was a 2nd class citizen. She did not once check on me or offer me anything to drink. She didn't even try to conversate with me. I was scheduled to get a haircut and was unable to because he was 1hr. late. My boy-friend got a haircut also and it was terrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible. They are a disgrace to hair salons!
