Not worth your time.

We visit SF quite often and like to try new places. In January 2009, we dined here. It was a late afternoon weekday, not too many people in the restaurant. The service was horrible. Our waitress had a surly attitude, she forgot to bring one of our drinks, our food took forever - about 30 minutes - and wasn't worth waiting for. Our son is a waiter in an SF landmark restaurant, so we always try to be nice and courteous to wait staff, but there was no breaking through to the waitress. She ignored us for most of the meal and after waiting for 20 minutes after we finished our meal, we had to track down Ms. Personality to get our check. Won't ever go back.
- Pros: Ambiance
- Cons: Everything else
GREAT find!

Authentic Irish feel, decor and menu. Fish & Chips were delicious as was the stew. Brew was cold and the regulars that were there were friendly and recommended items to choose from on the menu.
Down a alley where they offer outside seating as well. We went during the week just after lunch hour so it was "dead" but from the looks of the outside area I would say on a weekend night this place looks like it could be fun!

Although this place is called the Irish bank, they really have everything to offer to eat. I've been here a couple of times for lunch and have always wanted to come back on a Saturday night, but still haven't made it yet.
Like I said, their menu is extensive. While the specialize in potatoes and fish and chips, they do have mac and cheese, meatloaf and a HUGE selection of beers!
The main thing I love about this place is the outside seating. Because it's located down an alley, you don't even feel like you're in the city anymore. And if you are a smoker, it's ok if you're sitting outside.
Good Irish Pub

This great little pub, off the beaten trail, is well worth the trek. First time visitors may be apprehensive about the alley entrance, but the inviting interior makes all at ease. Bartenders are well trained and make an excellent cosmopolitan. (Surprising for a pub.) I always stop in when i'm walking around the area and you should too.
- Pros: drinks, atmosphere
- Cons: seating
Perfect for after work drinks

I love the Irish Bank. Been going here for years. Drinks are CHEAP and the crowds not rowdy. When the bar gets packed, you can hang out outside in the alley and enjoy good conversations even with random folks. The staff are friendly.
An Irish bar takes spills into an alley in the Financial District.

A dark-wood interior, exposed-brick walls and dim lighting make the boisterous patrons feel all warm and cozy--or it could just be the elbow-to-elbow crowd. Tourists and 9-to-5ers flock here for happy hour, while those looking for an escape can flee to the nether reaches of the bar and check out wall-mounted photos of idyllic Irish life. On sunny days, a couple of tables line the European-like alley.
- Pros: Great beer
- Cons: Big crowds
Best Irish Pub in the Bay Area

The new owners of the Irish Bank have made great improvements to the place. Perfect Pints of Guiness. Feels like a traditional irish pub from Donegal, and I have been to a few. Was a fun place to watch the World Cup.
Great outdoor space, now with awnings and heaters.
If you work downtown it is a great for lunch and after work for a drink or two, or on the weekends a good break from the madding crowds of Union Square.
Food has improved since the change of owership and the staff quite friendly. With a real friendly red headed Irish Bartender.
- Pros: Downtown, Value, Ambience
- Cons: Parking

Crowded Outside, Loud Inside

I've been twice now, and the first time was great, albeit a bit loud in the back room. The last time, however, we tried to get a group seated outside, but there were only three tables and far too few chairs. When we moved inside, the music was blaring so loud with generic rock that it was impossible to hear anyone who wasn't adjacent to you and screaming. That's fine for dancing, but hard for a pub setting that should be about chatting with friends.
- Pros: Beer
- Cons: Noise Level, Limited Seating
