Fabulous is word that comes to mind, the view is great over looking Union Square. The food....excellent. The service is fantastic...I loved it.
- Pros: A touch of class with the tiny tea cup of consomme and the pastry puff with strawberry flavored butter.
- Cons: Parking Garage .
just lovely!

warning, do not go here if you are intimidated by stuffiness! i love the pretentiousness of this place but it might not agree wtih some people. it has an old-school high-society southern vibe (since neiman's was founded in dallas). the food is excellent and the service is great. it's just a lovely experience and i think everyone has to try it once!
- Pros: gorgeous space
- Cons: can be intimidating
One of my FAVORITES!

I absolutely love the Rotunda at Neiman Marcus. Besides being incredibly beautiful, the food is amazing. The bread they serve with the strawberry butter is a guilty pleasure I I look forward to. Everyone on here who is complaining they were treated poorly need to relax...I have been to this restaurant several times and have always had a good experience. I do agree that it's not somewhere to go for a quick bite to eat. Only go if you want to take your time, and relax.
- Pros: Beautiful, Delicious Food, Unique
not at all a waste of time

i've eaten at the Rotunda a few times...and believe me...even tho i'm only 16...i know good food. reading these past reviews were sort of sickening. I felt very welcomed and comfortable at the Rotunda and i recommend it to people i know. The food is great and the service is served with a smile. Overall...the rotunda serves good tea and lunches and is definitely worth the time
- Pros: lunch, tea, environment
- Cons: tight seating
Unbelievably bad

This is the worst restaurant in all of San Francisco. Everything from the obnoxious hostess (she must have forgotten she works at the restaurant of a department store - not a Michelin starred haute cuisine kind of place) to the ratty and torn upholstery of the booths was terrible. Idiotic service, average food and tacky clientele. Don't waste your time or money here.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Service, Food, Decor
Expansive city views and upscale Cal cuisine make this department store eatery a favorite among ladies who lunch.

The Scene
Perched on the fourth floor of Neiman Marcus, this ring-shaped eatery features sweeping views of Union Square and three levels of designer goods below. Beneath a magnificent gold and white-glass dome, leisurely shoppers and awe-struck tourists sink into plush, red velvet chairs at tightly packed tables. Diners seeking more spacious environs retreat to opulent booths tucked into adjacent alcoves, where sluggish service allows for a languorous dining pace.
The Food
In lieu of the standard bread basket, a tiny teacup of consommé and a flaky, egg-based pastry puff with strawberry-flavored butter is presented to each guest. Starters are highlighted by the signature spring rolls, fried to a golden crisp and packed with copious pieces of lobster meat and minced veggies. The delicate seared salmon, served over a creamy polenta cake, and the hearty New York strip steak, steeped in a bordelaise marinade, are menu stars.
Not recommended if you're going druing work

I've worked in upscale restaurants and I'm one of the most forgiving people to wait on. However, I was disappointed with this restaurant. Service was extremely slow and we had to ask for dessert menus. If you have more than an hour and a half for lunch and like your food more on the less flavorful side, you'll be happy.
- Pros: It's pretty
- Cons: Slow service, Not the friendliest
Very rude

If you don't look rich, don't bother coming here. We were treated appallingly. The staff were reluctant to seat us and then lied about what was on offer in order to get us to leave. Someone needs to train the staff better in customer relations. As visitors to San Fransisco from the UK and Chicago, we were most surprised by the condescending treatment we received, as were my SF hosts.
- Cons: Service, Staff, Rudeness
High class atmosphere with food to match

I've always considered lunch at the Rotunda to be an essential part of a day of shopping in Union Square. The food is excellent... I recommend the lobster club. And don't worry if you can't land one of the highly sought after tables by the window overlooking downtown; the comfy semicircular booths allow you to admire the restaurant's beautiful architecture, including the spectacular glass ceiling.
- Pros: Classy ambience, Excellent food, Great view

The Rotunda has great food but it is expensive. However, it is definitely worth it. The service is also top shelf. We have never had a bad experience here. I would recommend making reservations and ask for a window seat so you can fully enjoy the view.
- Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Great View
