Don't look for good food at a sports bar
by eniveld
This is a fun, local hang out. Good beers on tap. Descent live music. Food is just ok. But you wouldn't look for good food at a sports bar anyway.
- Pros: Beer on tap, sports bar
- Cons: food
Yankee Rocks!
by rockngal
I dont know why these other people are baggin on the Yankee, i love it. Have loved it for years, the food is good, the drinks are good, and the vibe is good. Its a sports bar, with 5 flat screens..(im sitting here now, writing this review) good tunes playing... they even have live music a couple nights a week, mostly Fri-Sat night.
TOP TEN WORST PLACES IN SAN FRANCISCO
by jessicalan
I've lived in the city now for 10 years and this has to be one of the worst places I've been to in san francisco. The food is overpriced and horrible. Next time, you're better off going to another place in the area that would have better food and service. In addition to the food being overpriced and horrible, the waitress took a long time before taking our order and bring the food and drinks out. We also watched the wait staff and the manager get into an arugment with customers. Who wants to watch that when you're trying to watch a game? We're better off going to some other place next time. I've never seen a place this bad ever in San Francisco.
Worst customer service on top of being overpriced
by adrobin
We recently went for dinner and drinks and were overcharged by about $30. The bill was illegible and not itemized. We were able to discern that there was at least one dish we were charged for that we hadn't had. They removed that item, but refused to provide an itemized bill. The manager was threatening and said that I was 'stupid' and then left. Essentially, the waitress stole money from us after providing rude service all evening.
Granted, the french fries are good, but everything's overpriced and the service is intolerable. Beware of wait staff and managers intentionally ripping you off.
- Pros: Good french fries
- Cons: Too expensive for the dive bar it is. Empty on a Friday night. Beligerant and corrupt management.
Sports, live music and food make this Potrero Hill bar a favorite for locals and ex-New Englanders.

In Short
Boston sports heroes grace the walls and several TVs are mounted near the ceiling. A big-screen TV lives in the back room for more attentive viewers. Aside from being a top-notch sports bar, the Yankee comes alive on weekend nights with live music. Jam bands deliver blues, funk and post-Grateful Dead vibes from a tiny stage. There is no jukebox but the proprietors keep a library of good CDs on hand for background music.
A dying breed
by chrismsfo
The people who have written bad reviews of this place are the people you don't want to sit next to in a bar. Do us all a favor and just stick to the bars on Lombard or Union Street. And, I'll give you Polk but not South of California.
Thank you Connecticut Yankee for sticking to your guns.
Still bad service after all these years
by 50_stillfly
I have been going to the Connecticut Yankee for over 10 years, because it is close to Jackson softball field and is convenient. The service has always been poor, the food has always been so-so, and the prices have always been inflated. Recently I was refused service unless and until I turned the bill of my cap around. This was my last visit to this establishment: I'd rather buy my own beer and drink it in the parking lot.
DO NOT PATRONIZE
by kensommer
My softball buddies and I have had it with this alleged "Boston sports bar"...for years we've put up with the Yankee's inept service, rude staff, and mediocre food because it's located one block from the Jackson ballpark, but the other night was the "capper": We were asked to leave the bar because of their new "no baseball hats on backwards rule." Forgodsakes, it's a freakin bar, not some jackets-required high-end establishment. Oh, and several years ago we were asked to leave for making too much noise during an episode of Cheers. Kind of sums it up...
Great service where you can sit outside

Sitting outside eating an awesome chicken taco salad with friendly service.
What more could you ask for?
Incompetent rude waitstaff
by aligindahouse
I was at the Connecticut Yankee with my sister, and one of the unfriendly and bitchy waitresses was rude to her. When I told the waitress I thought her behaviour was rude, she replied that it's nothing to do with me and threatened to have me kicked out. I saved her the trouble and left without eating (or paying having spoken to the manager). Obviously its a case of they can be as rude and bitchy as they like, but they dont like to have to face this reality when they are called on their attitudes.
On top of this, my food and drink was late, I had to ask a separate unfriendly waitress to cancel my drink I had ordered and get me a water instead.
Granted, it was a busy night, but thats no excuse for such incompetence, rudeness, and unprofessional behavior.
- Cons: , Terrible service
