food was good. the place was spacious, but tables are too near with each other that it tends to look crowded when they have a lot of guests.tends to be noisy too. i liked the salmon i ordered but my husband didn't like his lamb. service was average. our experience was good but not great with this resto.

This is one of the most overrated restaurants! Please please please do not waste your $ (and you'll waste quite a bit at this overpriced, tasteless restaurant!). I'm not quite sure why others have rated it so high, but let me just say that from start to finish, this meal was horrible. The mojitos were totally watered down--NO alcohol! Once we sat down, the menu looked really good so we decided to order an appetizer.... the pheasant ravioli. Well, this app was $18.50 and we received 3 very small raviolis... pretty pathetic. And it's not like the flavor made up for the small portion in the least! It was horrible! I then ordered the sea bass and my husband ordered the filet mignon. When we received our entrees, we were so unbelievably disappointed. My sea bass was completely flavorless and atop some watered down, bland risotto. Oh, and the fish weighed in at about 4 whole ounces. My husband's $42 filet tasted like top sirloin--chewy and over cooked. Don’t get me wrong, I don't mind small portions if the flavor makes up for it. Needless to say we did not look at the dessert menu. In fact, we got our check, paid the outrageous bill, and went straight to Little Italy in North Beach for some fabulous gnocchi and gelato!!! With so many amazing restaurants in San Francisco, please don't waste your time, money, and taste buds at this horrifically overpriced, bland restaurant!

Pros: NONE

Cons: terrible food (taste and portion size), drinks, price, noisy due to open kitchen

The 6 of us had a very nice meal 2 weeks ago. I don't think the waiting staff is necessarily consistent with the food and wine but still good though. We had 3 bottles of wine but the waiter could not describe any of them sufficiently for the $100 - 120 price per bottle. We drank them anyway and enjoyed 2 of the 3 very much. Would still recommend restaurant and return again.

Pros: food, atmosphere

I love it here and find the food, service and atmosphere reliable and top-notch. Great for dates, out of towners, and girls night.

The salmon with chervil and lobster - perfect. Ms. Sullivan's desserts are the best in San Francisco - the ginger bread dessert was perfect. The ahi tuna appetizer - one of the best in the city. The service was elegant and friendly. Thanks to Scott, the sommelier or recommending the perfect shiraz. I cannot find anything wrong with the service, execution, or food at all. I'm one of the pickiest amateur food critics around and I would pick Boulevard every time over any restaurant in San Francisco. Great job, I'll be back again and again. Thank you to Boulevard for a perfect evening. Well done. Very well done 5 stars.

Pros: everything, food, wine list, service

Cons: the restaurant can get backed up sometimes in the front

My wife and I dined at Boulevard for our wedding anniversary. The reservations were made well in advance and we had requested a table in the back with views of the bridge- the request came through. Our appetizers of ahi tuna and the ginger crab salad were delicious starters. For our entree- the salmon and prime rib pork medallions were outstanding. We passed on dessert as nothing jumped out at us which was fine. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. A special event dining experience for us.

I took a group of colleagues and was very happy at the end of the night. I have been there before, so I knew general satisfaction would be likely. The lamb was perfect, the foie gras served on a disc of toast and flavored with a tangy sauce elgant, the deserts truly artistic, worthy of an impromptu fashion show, the long table a runway. The price was high, but not for the food and the service. The ambience was very fancy, yet comfortable, the arched brick ceiling by itself inspired conversation. I will be back, but with someone special for a romantic night.

Pros: Very pretty restaurant, elegant food

Cons: The bathroom is under a separate zip code - though very nice

Went there on New Years Eve after calling to verify there would be open seating in the bar area. When we arrived around 6:30 the hostess told us there would be about a two hour wait for bar seats, no problem I understand it's NYE. I pointed out an open table in the bar and she said they were holding it for someone. Guess there's no res. for the bar unless you're VIP. Went to the bar and asked for bartenders suggestion for glass of red wine and a margarita on the rocks- price $31. After getting a table we ordered al a carte from the prefixe menu. For an app we had ravioli (3 small pieces $20), main course for my girlfriend was abalone the size of box of tic tacs ($21) and I had the filet ($45). The one bright spot was our server who's name I think was Francesca. She was very knowledgeable and attentive despite the busy night. This wasn't our first visit to Boulevard and I know that it's not all about serving size, but I was disappointed by the flavor of the food, the price of the drinks abd the door staff's attitude. Wouldn't recommend.

My husband and I were looking forward to trying Boulevard and managed to get a booking on NYE. I had been told on the phone that it was a 5-course set menu at $80 for the first seating. Later on when I was confirming, I was told that it was only 4 courses for the earlier seating, consisting of 2 appetizers from the menu, a main and a dessert and the price was listed at $90, not $80. Once there, our server told us that it was 3 courses plus an "amuse bouche," which was a taste of soup in an espresso cup, hardly a 4th course! The appetizer was tiny, but was expected to be so. However, I was able to eat my main course in 3 small mouthfuls. The dessert was larger than the main course, but small as well. We left $360 lighter and had to stop to pick up food to go on the way home since we were both still starving. The food is tasty, but nowhere near satisfying. Be warned!

Pros: Ambience, good wine list, nice cocktails.

Cons: Ridiculously small portions, inconsistent service, no value for money.

This restaraunt used to be my favorite place to dine in San Francisco, in fact, probably in the US. I have been going there for years. As of late, the service seems to have taken a serious nose dive. Boulevard has to be in the top 50 (or less) restaraunts in the US. I don't think someone should be allowed to work as wait staff in a place of this caliber, and with these prices, unless they are the cream of the crop. Boulevard is now severely missing the mark in the service department and for no aparent reason. There must be an underlying cause, and whatever it is, it shows big time. I think they are riding on ratings now, and they will book up every night, so they just don't seem to care any more. As a local, I will never eat there again, nor will my frequent dining companions. We are sick of it. I will spend my hard earned money at a place that treats me well, not a place that treats me like I am lucky to be served by them. Sorry, Nancy. You lose this time.

Pros: location

Cons: very small portions and BAAAAAD service
