The look is Old World, but the music and clientele are trendy. From paint-chipped doors to wrought-iron windows, hints of provincial France dominate the decor--that is, when it's light enough and you're sober enough to notice it. The projection screen above the bathrooms shows oddball movies, while the little alcove in the back is quieter and perfect for cannoodling.

Great Sangria....

This is a great place to go if you want to stay away from all the trendy poser-type bars...just a comfy neighborhood place to get a drink at happy hour...not pretentious whatsoever. Word of caution: the sangria is very tasty and potent.....drink it s-l-o-w!! Parking is non-existent.....and it can be loud at times.

• Cons: No parking nearby....but that's the case everywhere in this city.

extremely accomodating staff

I've been going to Dalva ever since I got a job in the Mission and have always enjoyed the sangria, selection of beers on tap, and the classy but mellow atmosphere compared to nearby hangouts. I recently had a bon voyage party there (thanks to the awesome manager, Eric) and my love for Dalva has grown. We had a great setup in the back room, serving food early in the night, then transforming it into a nano-version of "1984" a la cat club. This was only possible b/c the bartenders were so cool about letting me play my 80s playlist. Thanks to Craig, Jimmy, and Peter for helping my friends and I have some seriously good times. Dalva deserves an '11' on this rate-o-meter.

Chill Destination

A bar with no pretensions, yet no grime. Very chill place to talk with friends over a cold beer or a generously poured cocktail. Great DJs playing mellow records on Tuesday nights. I highly recommend as a regular go-to bar.

Dalva has been around for a while. Even during the Marina invasion days, the staff here remained cool. Great place to meet up for drinks and a good cosmo.

Great tuesday night hang out..

Dalva is a dark and narrow, yet excellent bar with glowing lamps and wood tables,...one where you can hide out, relax, meet an old friend to catch up with over a beer. Very fun on tuesday nights, when Vinnie Esparza spins old soul and funk. I'd recommend it to anyone who just doesn't feel like Ruby Sky tonight....
