by 415livin

Manoras set the standard for all thai restaurants to measure themselves by.the wait staff is attentive and friendly.the meal was wonderfull i started with the larb gai and srping rolls(vegi) then i had the sea food plater which is to die for.My wife has the salad Kak.we ended the meal with Fried Banas and ice cream.i have been coming here since it opened and they have never ever failed me.I entertain alot of friends from out of town and this is an absolute place to eat.We go back time after time.I recommend to out of towners and i am sure all the SF locals who apprecite good thai cuisine knows about this place.

Disgusting Overall

by citygirl537

I heard that this was the best Thai Restaurant in the city, but I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre, with very little spices. The curry chicken had 3 huge chunks of potato in it, as if they couldn't spend the time to cut it and just sliced the potato twice and tossed it in there.

My glass was still dirty with a lipstick stain on it. My ice water contained no ice, even two of me refills had no ice in it, so I had to ask for a cup of ice.

Service was very slow for the most part, until the end when we were done and ready to pay our bill.

The couple in the table next to us kept on hugging, cuddling, and kissing the whole night!

I would never go back to this dirty, disgusting place!

  • Pros: Decorations
  • Cons: Bad food, Disgusting People

Excellent food at reasonable prices! The atmosphere, decor, and waitstaff outfits are also very authentic. I definitely recommend their BBQ chicken and yellow chicken curry. Yum!

  • Pros: quick seating
  • Cons: parking can be tough on weekend nights

Diamond in the rough

If you have never been to Manora before, you are really missing out! But beware - once you try their food, you will keep comming back for more. Their prices are very reasonable, portions are large, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the food is AMAZING! Seating is limited, so if you are planning on bringing a large group, deffinitely make reservations in advance. When it gets busy, service can become a little slow, but the food is deffinitely worth a little bit of a wait.

  • Pros: Tasty Food, Service
  • Cons: Usually busy

SOMA jewel, I can't wait to go again!

by thatblondgirl

This restaurant has everything I look for deilcious food (I tried several dishes and they were ALL amazing especially the seafood), the hostess was very attentive and we were seated promptly, then our waitress was helpful and never left us wanting anything. The atmosphere is that of a very expensive restaurant, but none of the pretentious vibes that go along with it. You can get any dish as spicy or mild as you like, but you'll want to save room for desert!

  • Pros: reasonably priced, Delicious Food, Amazing Service

Excellent and inexpensive

by meow

We are always seated quickly, have great food and great service. I've been to MANY Thai restaurants in San Francisco and this is one of the top places on my list. Your food is always made to order (spicy, medium, no spice) and has excellent flavor.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Tasty, Quick Service
  • Cons: Parking

Expensive, but not very good

by bigredpaul

I've eaten here a few times, but only because the people I did. I'd never pick to eat here on my own - the food is bland, and the service was abysmal. Not only that, but their prices are outlandish for a Thai restaurant.

  • Pros: SOMA
  • Cons: Expensive, Untasty, Bad Service

Thai

by connie5

Lunch is the best. The "pick of two" items for $7.50 is great. You also get rice and soup. This is the best lunch value south of market and the food is spicy and great.

No reservations necessary for lunch.

  • Pros: Good service, Friendly

A quietly elegant restaurant serving innovative, affordable and remarkably intense Thai cuisine.

The Scene
Filmy white curtains veil Manora's diners from the outside world. The tranquil space is on the elegant side of casual, with dark-wood wainscoting, carved teak details and ornately framed Thai prints. Even when full, the room feels quiet and spacious.

The Food
The menu diverges from the usual peanut sauce and curry standards with fresh, interesting combinations of flavors--and all the dishes are a couple bucks cheaper than at comparable Thai places. A Yum-ma-keur appetizer offers tender charbroiled eggplant with prawn, chicken and hard-boiled egg in lemon-garlic sauce; gang jurd soup's clear, mild broth allows the simple flavors of shrimp, spinach and napa cabbage to shine. A dish of sautéed Chinese broccoli and bits of salt cod in a perfectly assertive garlic sauce tastes both healthy and addictively savory. Pong-pang clay pot is a bargain and a treat, with tons of seafood and vegetables in a silky, dark-red chili sauce.

Great Thai in Soma

by trevorf

One of the best value Thai lunch specials in the city. For $7.50 ea., we got a nice thai chicken soup and 2 very tasty dishes with fried rice. If you share, 2 people can get four unique tastes and an ample amount of food. We were seated quickly, our order came propmtly and our water glass was always full. Highly recommended.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, service, great food
  • Cons: SOMA area
