I was in this restaurant with my family. We ate pizza with peperoni and sausages. It was delicious, we ate ravioly and pirata salad too.

The food was very good

Il Pirata is mostly a joint for regular friendly sports dive bar flies who love the Giants and 49ers, though one can't really enjoy the few screen TVs because of the bar chitter chatter. A couple of the bartenders are cool. The owner who also bartends hardly ever throws down drinks for regulars. Also, Happy Hours don't exist here. The music is mediocre here, ranging from terrible top 40, 80s (not the memorable ones, the songs you want to forget), terrible DJ techno on Wednesday nights, and once in awhile they have a DJ on Saturdays and Sundays who spins hip hop/reggae that is blasted from the speakers, so loud it sounds horrible. The food (pizza, chicken, salad) is tasty, but the dining area is dark and dingy. Reggae Sundays has an outside BBQ with tender jamaican chicken. The write-up mentions filet mignon, but I have never seen, heard, or been able to order it. The outside patio is full of local regulars who hog the dart board. Don't expect a romantic night time. The outside patio is right next to a dumpster, so foul smells come over sometimes and rumor has it thar small creatures sneak around the back. The restaurant summary and photos give you a false sense of uplifting, bright dining experience. Il PIrata is unpredictable and can be crowded or near empty, but most of it depends on if there are events, such as private party, salsa, or local sports night.

  • Pros: Parking, Food, Sports Screen TVs
  • Cons: Atmosphere

I always get great service here and the food is great, especially for how affordable it is! The main dining room has really cool, comfy, old-style boothes to sit in -- great for large groups to sit in a semi-circle booth, have cocktails and eat good but affordable italian food. Its also the kind of place you can just have cocktails but still sit in the dining room boothes. Good appetizers/snakc food too.

I've never had a bad experience there. The karoke on thursday nights is fun too!

  • Pros: Great service, affordable good food, cocktails/beer and comfy old-style boothes.
  • Cons: If you're looking for a super-fancy Italian joint, you won't find that here -- its more casual.

If you are going there to eat with your family you will be disappointed. This place is more of a bar. The food is not good at all. I have only been there to hang out a few times and it seems like a cool place for that.

  • Pros: drinks
  • Cons: food

I have been to this bar on mostly wednesdays to hear some goa/psy trance. It is very fast music but it is really good if you are into this kind of trance music. the people there are great and the dj's are very talented. I have a blast every time I go.

In Short
This hangout consists of two large indoor spaces, plus an open-air side patio. One room houses a wooden bar where regulars sit and watch sports on two large-screen TVs, surrounded by framed Budweiser posters and a revolving Bass sign. The other room features an ornate wall mural of the deep ocean and large booth-style vinyl couches. After 9pm, cafeteria tables in the second room are removed to create a dance space.
